Seemed on par with all the others. I just haven't played any of the recent stuff he's covered, so that takes the value down a notch for me.

I just felt that with the last bunch he had lost his comedic edge a bit and was trying a bit too hard in some spots.
This one seemed right one the money.
I guess I'm being more critical on his humor than the actual review :)

I'll have to see this. My first reaction to one of his reviews was negative, but I've since watched a few more and he's grown on me. I appreciate how intelligent, clever and funny he is. I mean seriously, this guy seems MUCH more intelligent than ninety percent of the people writing game reviews today. I don't always agree with him though, but I'm starting to realize that he doesn't expect us to take everything he says seriously

He never has. He has always been slightly OTT in a similar condescending way to that of James D. Rolfe (of Angry Video Game Nerd fame). I enjoy both of their reviewing styles immensely.

I wish Yahtzee would review all the latest releases so I know which games to avoid/poke fun at.

Well, I suppose, I could do that for myself, except it costs me £40 for the privilege and I die a little inside after each game I want turns out to be a steaming pile of monkey ass rape from hell.

Yahtzee's style usually consists of 80% nitpicking, 15% praising, and 5% giving a conclusionary that always ends in a negative way, even when you can tell he loves the game. If you can see through that, and you can appreciate or completely ignore the humor, than you'll find most of his reviews to be deadly accurate.

I loved the "nitpick train coming into the station" part of this week's :)

When did they change the intro? It's been a couple of months, and I miss the music he used to use at the beginning and ending of every review.

For the most part, I enjoy his reviews, though there have been a few where I don't think he quite got it. In his Soul Calibur IV review he pretty much admits to not having ever been interested by the genre, and while I agree with many of his points in Smash Bros., he admitted to not ever dealing with multiplayer, so that aspect of fighters is out.

I don't know. He makes good points about the games he discusses and he does show the flaws behind every game, even if he likes it, which I can respect. But he does have certain genres that he really just doesn't care for, and I feel it hurts those reviews. Still, I haven't played SCIV yet, so perhaps he's right about everything wrong with it...I just didn't care for his discussion about fighters in general.

Yeah, he's definitely not into some genres. He pretty much wrote off Mass Effect without playing it much. I think that game is brilliant, even though the combat does have some issues, which initially put me off to the game.

His Braid review was funny and I completely agree about his comments on the story. The rest of the game is great though, and I didn't have any issues with the level design and puzzles like he did.
