SMILE:
The Credit Union I work for has a small community room that they rent out for a $25 deposit. If the room is cleaned up properly after the event, the $25 is returned. The other pre-requisite is that renters must be members of the credit union.
Lately, my boss (the moron I've mentioned in this thread before) has decided to let more and more people use it for free, including non-members. Ive told her this is not wise, but she thinks she's 'doing the community a service.'
Usually the groups that use the room are small groups. A little bible group that meets on Wednesday evenings, or what have you. Well, recently large business got wind of a free community room and came in to set up a schedule of use. They're using it all day every day, and over 45 cars use our parking lot. This branch is tiny. 30 parking spaces max. Including EMPLOYEE parking (we need 6 spaces). We finally told them that they need to leave a certain 6 spots unused for us.
The last two days, they have come in 2 or 3 times a DAY to ask for rolls of toilet paper, and bundles of those brown paper towels you see in a public restroom. Yesterday afternoon around 1pm, someone came in and took 7 rolls of TP. This MORNING, they came in and asked for 10 more.
Then, they started talking about how they now 'need one of us to volunteer' to help them set up their crap, as well as role play in one of their business demonstrations. What the hell is wrong with these people? I have work to do. We all do. Thats the only reason we come here. Not to offer our personal services for free!
Now, to make matters worse (or more funny if you're me) - two women came in with looks of desperation, asking for a plunger. They've clogged up the toilet - probably from the 200 rolls of TP they've (literally) shit through - and it's now leaking asswater all over the community room floor, soaking the carpet and stinking.
What happens next? Boss looks at me and asks if I'd like to try and plunge the toilet. I laugh in her face and walk back to my desk. They've now called a plumber. Guess who gets to pay for that? The CU, not the idiots who can't hold their bowels for longer than 10 minutes.
It's maddening, but it's also really hilarious how stupid this situation is.

indecks that is crazy. But you know what, stupid breeds stupid.
Smiled - found out that the crappy coffee machines at work are free - unlike the 60cents a cup at the other building. Even though they make terrible coffee, the hot chocolate out of them is actually really good. So I top off my frenchpress with hot chocolate.

Hot Chocolate is hard to screw up I think. I wish our terrible coffee machines had that.fastbilly1 wrote:indecks that is crazy. But you know what, stupid breeds stupid.

Can you bring this up with someone above her? This is really a terrible case of "No good deed goes unpunished" and "I told you so", but she didn't listen.indecks wrote:It's maddening, but it's also really hilarious how stupid this situation is.

Well, from what I've heard now is that the 2 higher-ups are none-too pleased with the situation, and are going to have a talk with the renters. Unfortunately, I found out that the current renter IS a member of the CU, so I don't think this 'talk' is going to have much effect. If anything, they should provide their own supplies. I get that the CU is responsible for supplying some materials, but I mean come on, that can only be within reason!
The TP they're coming in to get is coming from this branches personal stash. It's what WE use. If I were a manager I'd have told them they get 2 rolls. Anything after that, buy your own.

Let me guess: you have a crappy diner-style two-pot machine, which you feed coffee from blank silver plastic packets.AppleQueso wrote:Hot Chocolate is hard to screw up I think. Actually it's this nasty "liquid coffee" that comes in these boxes with bags inside of them that you hook up to this pump that mixes it with hot water.BoringSupreez wrote:Let me guess: you have a crappy diner-style two-pot machine, which you feed coffee from blank silver plastic packets.AppleQueso wrote:Hot Chocolate is hard to screw up I think. We used to have the silver packets. They honestly tasted much better.

That sounds terrible. I've never seen the kind of coffee you're describing, must be relatively new.AppleQueso wrote:Actually it's this nasty "liquid coffee" that comes in these boxes with bags inside of them that you hook up to this pump that mixes it with hot water.BoringSupreez wrote:Let me guess: you have a crappy diner-style two-pot machine, which you feed coffee from blank silver plastic packets.AppleQueso wrote:Hot Chocolate is hard to screw up I think. We put it in about a year or two ago I want to say. I think it's vendor supplied and it might just be a regional thing.BoringSupreez wrote: That sounds terrible. I've never seen the kind of coffee you're describing, must be relatively new.
