Yeah, I don't think that was the intent. You play retro games, then you're a retro gamer. I don't think anyone on this forum would dispute that.

Keep in mind that a lot of us are fogies who were kids that grew up on this stuff everyone now calls retro. We look back on it fondly. Its just a different perspective, nothing more.

I was 14 once on here...

Gosh I've been here for nearly 5 years now.

Also, never used Turbo controllers. Still don't. I can press buttons fast enough.

Keep in mind that you are a vast minority in the retro gaming scene. Most retro gamers are older. What makes most of us interested in retro gaming are the fond memories of playing these consoles during our childhood. So, when we make posts that say: "When You Were A Kid..." we are assuming the people reading this thread are adults or close to it.

But, like Hobie-wan said, I meant pre-teen. I was about eight years old in the story about Double Dragon, which is about the age in which you would think someones controller is letting them win or that tattling to your mom about me using cheap tactics to win would make you win instead.

Does anyone else have any stories about stupid arguments you had with friends over video games like this?

Who said that nonsense? I occasionally listen to 'classic rock' that is older than I am, or came out when I was too young to know exactly what it was beyond being pleasant noise that came out of those boxes with fuzzy fronts in the living room.. There are many cars I appreciate that came well before the age I could drive. Books. My father's combat boots. Et cetera.
