Re: The Wrestling Thread
I'm beating a dead horse, but if there was ever a year for TNA to NOT have a DVD distributor, this is it.
I saw the star ratings for this card and it looked amazing. I attended last year's BFG - which was like the opposite.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
So I'm going to check out the RAW House show (I still call them house shows - whatever) tomorrow night. Got an email today from the WWE - the main event is Punk/Ryback Last Man Standing for the WWE title. Interested to see them practice a bit in advance of the cell match.
Of course starting a feud with a HiaC match is moronic but we are where we are.

I read about that a couple weeks back. That is freaking awesome! I think I became an instant Davari fan.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
You guys been watching WWE Main Event? It's surprisingly good. It's the exact opposite of Raw. Whereas some people feel that Raw is overly long, and just seems full of pointless filler. Main Event is a lean, focused show that is all about hyping two guys and one match. It made the title match between Miz and Kingston feel like something on a pay per view. I think they might want to consider reserving all TV title defenses for this show, and maybe save all the soap opery stuff for Raw, and have Smackdown be a show about having great non title matches.

MNF takes priority, so I checked out a great blog that condenses three hours of RAW into two or three pages.
So there were what, eight matches last night? And some of those ended in a couple of minutes? So basically there is around fifty minutes of wrestling in a three hour show about wrestling? Nuts to that.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Well, I know at least three matches that went 10 minutes +:
The opening tag match
Bryan/Ziggler
Punk/Sheamus (this was almost 20)
If anything, with the move to 3 hours, the matches have been longer on average.
3 hours is still an absolute chore to sit through. I'm sure the ratings were horrible last night also. Some of the story stuff was just insufferable and made no sense before a PPV.

Presidential Debate, MNF, and Raw. Pretty sure the latter didn't have great ratings.
Kind of nuts that I hear a lot of WWE fans hoping that the ratings tank so the WWE needs to go in another direction.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Truthfully, a three hour show doesn't bother me. It's just that the content isn't entertaining enough. I've gone through six hour marathons of watching Breaking Bad because every episode leaves you wanting more. Pro wrestling rarely does that
The AJ/Cena storyline is utterly ridiculous. The idea of a business dinner is just stupid. Also, Cena coming on to AJ repeatedly on live television before a live crowd, then all of a sudden he tries to act like it's crazy to think that him and AJ have been romantically or sexually involved when they have a dinner together.
I've said it time and time again, but Cena is quite possibly the stupidest pro wrestling character on television. He's an embarrassment to wrestling and an embarrassment to himself. I'll give him some credit, at least he can put sentences together. Right now, the guy who is getting biggest push in the WWE is a cave man who is unable to say anything other than, "feed me more!"
These are not the kind of people that you push as your top guys on a wrestling show. It's just makes wrestling look like stupid garbage for trailer park trash
That Ziggler/Bryan match was awesome. That was one thing I really enjoyed last night. There are the two guys who SHOULD be at the top of the ladder, along with Punk of course.
