A Star Fox 2 SNES cart?

Post by zilack_kid »

I was looking around on ebay earlier when I came across a Starfox 2 SNES game cartridge:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Star-Fox-2-SNES ... 1049688%26
and I can't find any information on it. I've read that the game was never released, but if that's the case, whats the deal? is it a fan made cart, a finished yet unreleased cart? I e-mailed the seller, but I thought someone on here might be able to help me out as well. Lemme know.

Yes it is a 'home made' repro cart of the dumped roms from a demo cart. It was never released to retail and this seller is preying on people's lack of knowledge and overcharging IMHO for what this is.

There seems to be a lot of people lately asking us about ebay sellers trying to overcharge for repros.

Yes it is a repro and the ebay seller is a gouger trying to flip a game he bought for $65 or less.

^ 27 bids so far.

The eBay market is pretty behind on repros in general. I've seen old Tecmo Super Bowl carts go for $50. You're pretty much tapping into an audience that has no idea or access to getting one on their own.

Reproductions and prototypes are selling well lately.
Selling half my NES/SNES/PS1 collection (ending Dec 1):

In case anyone's curious, I e-mailed the seller as follows:
"If this game was never released, then what's up with the cart? is it custom made or what? I also noticed that one of the screen caps was in english, is the entire game in english, and is it finished/have any buggs? Please lemme know."
and he responded with:
"Hello.

The full game is in English. No bugs.

Thanks."
So yeah, I'd say the seller is trying to pray on people's lack of savvy.

He didn't say anything deceitful there.

Anyone who doesn't come out and and say "this is a reproduction cart" is being deceitful by omission as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah, putting a cart up for sale and saying it's an unreleased game will lead people to believe it's a prototype or whatever. In this case, the untold truth is definitely just as good as a lie.

You guys know you can report these auctions, right?
