Agreed, though I haven't heard too many complaints about any of the other ones. I genuinely wonder how many copies of these collections are being sold, and what the market will look like for them in a few years. I assume they must be selling reasonably well, as they keep being produced and new ones keep being released. I can see the ZotE release being very niche, so maybe that one won't do as well as the other mainstream collections. Kinda gets you wondering though - where are the .hack and Xenosaga HD collections? Has the market disappeared completely for Rpgs?

They were never that popular here to begin with, compared to games like MGS/ratchet and clank/Sly/Jak and daxter that virtually every one played.
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

I always thought that I would enjoy the MGS collection more than any other - and it was very well done - but I got more play time out of The Sly Collection than any other. Probably because I had already payed the MGS games to death before the collection, while The Sly Collection was my first time through those games except for the first half of the original.

I imagine that the ones that do the best are the games that didn't sell too well their first time around, but developed a cult following. I imagine that the Zone of the Enders collection will attract a lot of people that never played the originals.

I think I heard about a petition to get Xenosaga in an HD collection. I think with .hack and Xenosaga HD collections at least is that they weren't the most popular JRPGs for the PS2, so the people clamouring for a reissue of those games versus Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts. Which KH is getting and I think FFX is getting a crossplay HD reissue for PSN and Vita. So maybe now that the Tier 1 JRPGs are getting reissued, the Tier 2 games will see a reissue.

Perhaps .hack and Xenosaga will see a reissue on PSN as a PS2 classic. I think for the more niche PS2 classics that WE here love, stand a better chance for PS2 Classic reissues versus a full retail HD disc release. Which is fine by me. I'd rather pay 10 bucks for a digital copy of Dark Cloud 2 or Tales of the Abyss or Xenosaga 3 than the 20-30 bucks the disc copies go for. Or 40 bucks (10 each) for the .hack games, because those games can vary wildly in price, especially that last one. Sheesh.

Unlike some people here, I'd rather spend less money for a digital release than for some of the old discs that command high prices still. Shame the Wii had such shit online service and tied the downloads to the system rather than one account like Steam/XBLA/PSN/Everybody else nowadays

I only have acquired two HD Collections, which are the ICO/SotC HD Collection and the Devil May Cry HD Collection.

The ICO/SotC HD Collection is FANTASTIC. It is hard to think of any last generation games that deserve remasters more than these two. Now I can finally enjoy Shadow of the Colossus without crippling framerate problems.

As for DMC, I have only played the first DMC in HD so far. As far as that game is concerned, the remaster looks really nice, especially for how old it is. The menus look a bit low res compared to the game itself, as well as some cut scenes. That may be due to technical limitations though.

I'm starting to wonder, is any notable PS2 game NOT going to get HD remasters? It's like they are just going through all of the PS2's greatest hits. Soon we'll be seeing Final Fantasy games in HD, as they're working on FF X HD already

I mean sure it's nice. I actually like the trophy support more than anything as I could care less about seeing most of these games redone in HD, but it's cool getting trophies for old classics. I worry though, is the game industry going to be double and triple dipping on classic games the way they do with movies? What's next? 3D collections?

I don't know, I don't think I'd be too terribly bothered by this one bit. Older games actually being readily accessible on modern consoles is absolutely a good thing, and if they're cleaned up and made to look even nicer? All the better.

I'm really hoping Nintendo jumps on board with this HD remaster stuff on the Wii U. I'd love to get a Wind Waker HD.

Depends on the HD collection. The Tomb Raider, Devil May Cry, Metal Gear Solid and Silent Hill ones don't support 3D and in the case of Tomb Raider, MGS and Silent Hill they could have used 3D (Even the cheaper, less hardware taxing TrioViz filter that Assassin's Creed and Batman: Arkham City uses would have been nice).
