Buy a PC the same day the PS4 comes out. Your computer will be better. Remember that consoles are ALWAYS behind the PC.kingmohd84 wrote:I am waiting for the next huge jump in graphics/processors . High end PCs now are probably much more powerful than the PS4/720 will be anyway.

What would I even do with that much space over the next five years? Why would I need 3TB of data with me on my PC? Is the Windows 8 install that bloated?kingmohd84 wrote:you can get 3 TB for only $140 !!!
While you will only get SSD 256GB for $183!
I'm currently using 80GB and that is with 50GB of photos, music, and videos. I have a separate computer connected to my TV which has a 320GB drive containing 200GB of movies and shows.
I have a 300GB download limit each month. Assuming I used it all every month and kept absolutely every byte of data, it would take a full year to fill 3TB.
Imagine how long it would take you to actually experience 3TB worth of data, via watching movies, listening to music, viewing photos, and so on.
Having my programs literally blink into existence within a second of clicking the icon and hard disk access consume virtually zero time is well worth my drive being 30% full instead of 3% full.

Re: ano need to upgrade your PCs anymore
If I didn't have to sacrafice my card reader for the SATA slot, I'd totally go out today and buy a 60 or 120gb SSD for a boot drive and some apps (Steam, Chrome, Office, etc) and keep my 1tb for my game and music storage.
I'm currently using about 600gb with all my music and games. I'm sure I could easily use my entire TB of space within the next year or so...
but again, that's with all of it installed. If I kept excess to a minimum with my games, I could easily get by on a 320gb hard drive. Actually, I did just that until about 9 months ago.
Thing is, once you have space, you start using it. Sure I don't need all my games installed and all the music I don't listen to, but, since I have the space for it, I do. And the benefit of that is I can call the stuff up when I want it. Oh today I want to play Half Life which I haven't played in a few years? Cool. I can start it right up without downloading or installing. It's right there. Getting an insane amount of storage is cheap anyway (3tb for $140 as king said).

@Zing
I know its a lot. Out of my 400 GB HDD I am using only 143GB , and its not like I am limiting myself. But if your point is that we get a lot for cheap price, I think we shouldn't complain. Its like telling companies "Raise your prices , and give us lowe specs!" . It is what it is!
I am also sure that 3TB HDD are very appreciated by people working in the media like news papers, TV channels, 3D artist, video editors, and probably libraries.
There are hybrids, but not sure whats the benefit.
@MrPoPo
What you say makes a lot of sense, but I feel more comfortable in the Mac environment. But I wonder in 2 years or so, how much would a PC would cost that is on par or a bit higher than a ps3? That alone could cover my gaming needs for the an eternity to come. I could use it as home theater pc. But I wonder if Mouse+Keyboard can work well with TV.

I use M&KB with my current setup of having my PC plugged in to the TV. It works just fine now that we have optical mice. You either need to have extension cords for your peripherals (yucky) or use wireless (I use bluetooth myself).kingmohd84 wrote:@@MrPoPo

As for the price of a PC that'll outdo the PS3, you can get something like that now for $500. You might be able to go lower, but to be honest I'm not terribly familiar with low-end PC parts. I always focus my attention on the mid-high- to high-end parts since whenever I'm in the market for a PC upgrade I have the disposable income to spend $1500+ and get something tricked out that I won't have to touch for many years while still maxing games as they come out.

Re: ano need to upgrade your PCs anymore
I will certainly not pay $1500 for a pc. But for $500 I can get ps3 quality games that can used as home theater(good bye WdTV) , thats not bad.... not bad at all!! I bet its cheaper than ps4! but then again...a ps4 can be used as a media player too...
Did you try RTS games on your tv? do they work well? how about retro games like C&C ? do they display well on your most likely huge tv screen?

Re: ano need to upgrade your PCs anymore
Yup, I play FPS's and RTS's with mouse and keyboard no problem. The first time one of my buddies realized that I play on a couch and still beat him (and he's no slouch) he was like "god damn it".kingmohd84 wrote:I will certainly not pay $1500 for a pc. The thing about TVs is that while the screen is big, they don't have a comparatively large resolution. With a PC monitor if you go from 17" to 19" you'll have a higher resolution on the 19". On my TV I run 1360x768 (native res) since it's only a 720p set. At a viewing distance of 8 feet (or so) everything looks great.

I used to play Lord of the Rings Online and Civilization IV on my 50" HDTV.

I guess i finally have to give up on my CRT, time to move on with the times. Hopefully the N64 and VHS will still look ok on an HDTV.
