I think staying with the retro downloadable or remakes is cool... just not new retail games.

Contrary to what some people believe, not all 360 owners prefer FPS games. :D

Really, there has been a lot more attention given to older genres since downloading on consoles became popular. It would be quite appropriate to detail some of the intentionally old or revived franchises. And the line between actually "old" and the intention to recall "old" is going to become much more blurry, especially if the upcoming "true-bit" games become popular.

You could limit yourself to downloadable games on the 360 and PS3, but soon full retail games will be downloadable (okay, they sort of are already, but it will become more noticeable after Burnout Paradise does it I bet).

So, for your site, do you want the term "retro gaming lifestyle" to refer to games that are old (say 8-10 years), or games of any age that have some relation to long-established genres? That doesn't really work I guess because everything is based on something else.

Okay. I think I'm going off a bit. Games are games.

Why do we have to wait 10 years before it's cool to like them? But to keep your website's identity separate from just a general gaming site, I suppose it is necessary.

Here's my vote: I'm glad I don't have to decide. Instead, I will play Bionic Commando.

I agree. We got more and more games coming out, this list may be outdated as early as next week.

I say give it some more time before we start doing this. Honestly, I felt the Wii list was a bit premature, though I did enjoy the recommendations.

I like the idea of talking about retro games that have been seen the light of newer systems. That way, I can hate on shit like R-Type Command.

Thanks guys -- I really appreciate your opinions.
If I do decide to fool around with it, I can always post it where it won't show up on the front page and in the feed and then just link to it in the main "Cheapest Games" page.
That way, if you want it, it's there.

I voted Yeah go for it. I would like an article covering some of the down loadable classics and remakes.

Well given that this site is practically the only gaming site I know of that covers retro games(other than HG101), I don't think you'd lose that much cred. Retro gaming still makes up the bulk of your site. However, I do agree that it's not something you need to do now. The next gen consoles are still pretty young. Basically, I guess I'm saying that there's nothing wrong with you doing it now if you want, but it's not necessary yet. No need to rush. Now, if something like the Red Star were released on the 360 as a budget game aimed at a retro crowd, then sure you could go ahead and cover that.
