I got a guy from work who is selling all his consoles for just handheld. He has 10 great consoles like snes,genesis,tg16,ps2, psone, dreamcast, nes and sega master system. I know he's not getting rid of the 360 and ps3 but My co worker rick is saying its all collecting dust and he wants to sell all of it to get a vista and get a gba sp and 3ds so it wont add space and he can go portable.
Now I'm trying to talk him into selling his stuff on here for racketboy and he's got some great games but DAMN!!! I think this is a bad move.
If he wants to do it then fine but have any of you guys just suck with portable gaming and gave up on consoles? I want a psp also but i would never sell my stuff again. I learned from people here that selling and buying back is a waste of time and money. I hope he thinks this thru.

let him sell it and then the consoles will go to people who will actually enjoy the systems, sounds like the systems right now arn't getting any love anyway so whats the point of keeping them.

Re: bad move on a co worker
I would be intrested in the tg16,sms,ps1 and dc stuff if it comes up for sale.
If it were up to me i would put the systems in totes for a few months
and play handhelds that way you don't make any choice you may regret.
I go through periods where all i play is my handhelds but i know if i sold all my other consoles i could never replace them for what i paid for them. Since some of the things i have i had never seen before or since.

There was a period where I was barely playing any non-handheld stuff. Mostly GBA, DS and then PSP on commutes and so on. I currently have a shorter commute so I shifted back into playing mostly non-handheld although I still play a bunch of handheld stuff inside the house.
It may be a very good move for your co worker to go into handhelds, depending on his current lifestyle.
I would still strongly advise that he considers this in steps - namely he should start by selling only a few of his consoles (instead of doing such a huge "clean out" in one go) and get ONE of the handhelds he wants. He apparently doesn't really want or need multiple consoles now (which I think really is perfectly understandable), so I'm guessing getting more than ONE handheld at the same time would be a mistake.
And if he does happen to regret selling the consoles he sells, at least by taking it slower he won't have sold all of his retro hardware by then.

Re: bad move on a co worker
i decided to sell off all my retro portable games as i find it to be more sensible to emulate those systems on a psp as its not practacle to bring a bag full of carts everywhere i go. to me that was a good decision.

Re: bad move on a co worker
Good point on this. I just know me personally i did the same thing dropped all my consoles and went to gba and the gameboy line up. after 6 month's or so I went back and had to try to get everything back. I still will never be able to get my snes colllection again. I just know in the end I may have all the nes classics on the gba but it wasn't the same as playing castlevania on the nes.Ivo wrote:Selling stuff that he won't buy back would not be a waste of time and money.mas wrote: If he wants to do it then fine but have any of you guys just suck with portable gaming and gave up on consoles?
