Re: The Wrestling Thread
I like the potential little "mini" feud between PPVs with Ryback. They won't job Ryback out (if this was WCW...) but Punk can help make him a bit.
It appeared that the crowd was muted out though for the end - because you would normally think there would be a big pop there. It was dead.

Yeah, that was awkward. I don't think the live crowd actually saw that segment.retrosportsgamer wrote:I like the potential little "mini" feud between PPVs with Ryback. They won't job Ryback out (if this was WCW...) but Punk can help make him a bit.

Punk dropped some KILLER mic work last night. I would love to sit someone down and say, "THAT is how you be a heel." Very impressive. I felt genuinely sorry for AJ the way Punk and Heyman humiliated her. The segment with him and Foley was good too, though Foley seemed a little off. Like he was a little uncertain where he was going with his speeches. I LOVE the way Punk chewed out the crowd the whole night. Holy crap. That was just gold. Punk is money. I wouldn't mind seeing him hold that title for a couple more months.

Yeah they're now using the crowd baiting stuff to get him over as a heel. I don't mind that, as the only thing I really dislike is the chicken shit stuff, like when he overreacts and slinks away. That is so played out with WWE heels.

Me too. What happened to heels that were threatening, mean, and scary; but still assholes? Randy Orton is like the only guy that still does that, and he's a face right now.retrosportsgamer wrote:Yeah they're now using the crowd baiting stuff to get him over as a heel. I remember guys like Kevin Nash, Triple H, Rowdy Roddy Piper, The Undertaker, Paul Orndorf and others would just dominate and decimate their opponents. And it was great. It would make the bad guys that much more threatening, and make the good guys shine that much more when they would overcome them.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
You kind of answered your own question. Nowadays those guys are turned face by the fans pretty quickly. They did a good job with Mark Henry (although eventually got lazy and booked him as a chicken shit heel) but even he was eventually getting cheered.BurningDoom wrote:Me too. I still wish they turned Orton before Wrestlemani 25. He was getting monster pops as a heel and then they did that whole Shane (the absolute worst)/Stephanie/HHH/home invasion stuff which led to a brutal main event.
Re: The Wrestling Thread
Man, now you guys have gotten me back on watching raw religiously every week, and although I only saw the last half of last nights show,
it sounds like I only missed the "debate" between Sheamus and Big Show.
I was like a little schoolgirl all giddy during Punk and JR's segment. By the way last weeks show ended with Punk/Foley/Ryback, I expected the same this week and the anticipation was killing me as to when Ryback would come to JR's aid, and boy did it not disappoint. Did anyone happen to catch when Jr and Ryback met up on the ramp and you could read Ryback's mouth saying to JR, "Let's Go" and escorted JR back into the ring! Ryback sure looked intimidating as ever last night when he was face to face with Punk. I was laughing when Punk excused himself (or was it shat himself?) from the ring after he just got done bragging to JR that he never ever has backed down from a fight in the ring and always fought. Well, last night, he ran away like a little girl. I'm just wondering what's in store with the whole Paul Heyman thing...

Re: The Wrestling Thread
I don't know where to go with this one but I watched heroes of world class dvd and wccw dvd from wwe and I watched alot of wccw matches on youtube. First let me say man i miss the 80's wrestling scene. You would have a great match followed by a quick promo and then another match after another and another. Not people talking for 1/2hr orso and only have 4 or 5 matches in a three hour show.
Anyways is there any wrestling game that has any venue that resembles the sportatorium in dallas where wccw was held? I dont remember if any legends of wrestling had it or not. Can someone point me to the right direction. Thanks

Bwahaha!
My Bears were on last night so Raw got little attention from me, which is good as everything I did see on raw was awful.

Re: The Wrestling Thread
Just proves what I've been saying about BOTH of these guys since day one. They're not main event level talent. Hell, they're barely even mid card worthy. Seriously, the Rybak push just annoys me. He doesn't even deserve to be in the same ring with CM PunkLuke wrote:Bwahaha!

Re: The Wrestling Thread
well, somebody has to put CM in his place. he's getting a bit too big for his britches lately. He's a good wrestler, but putting himself above the greats, i'm not so sure... Looking back, you had your Goldberg, Stone Cold, British Bulldog, Shawn Michaels, Brett Hart, Chris Benoit, Haku, and undertaker to name a few that i'm not too sure he could compete with. Of course tho, it's not about raw talent, but about the script that McMahon chooses.
