I think VH1 does it, but don't quote me on that, I'm not certain.gtmtnbiker wrote:So what do people do nowadays if they want to watch music videos station like the old MTV?
Also, the show's appeal is due to it being "funny", or at least that's what I've heard. Never seen it before.
Re: Jersey shore
Personally, I found Jersey Shore to be immensely entertaining, in much the same way that going to the zoo and watching monkeys throw feces at each other is entertaining.
A lot of people say that the people on Jersey Shore don't deserve the attention they're getting. If you've ever watched TV for more than an hour in your life, you know this is not an argument at all. If it was, there'd be no TV.

Reality TV in general is doing better than ever despite the fact that it's 99% unwatchable garbage.
In fact you could say the same thing about many game franchises that have become worse over the years (New Final Fantasy, Resident Evil and Sonic games, call of duty, World of Warcraft etc)

Re: Jersey shore
You know why these shows survive?
The average teenage girl is ignorant, and has a love of seeing "drama". Thus, forced and dumb shows like this survive.
Honestly, I question who would even want to have sex with Snooki, let alone knock her up...
I'm with Popo. Besides Moe on the Stooges movie, I'll never watch any of it.

That movie is ten times worse than the show.

It's a simple fact. The majority of the human population are idiots, hence idiotic shows are always successful. Most of the highest rated programs on TV are crap, and most of the smart stuff are on the bubble every season and in danger of cancellation.kingmohd84 wrote:What surprises me is the amount of criticism this show got yet it survived so long, that means there are people who watch this thing!!

I love this response. Where in NJ is it filmed? Point Pleasant?ExedExes wrote:From a videogame standpoint, the place where the show took place had some of the best arcades in NJ. Ever since MTV started coming there (even before the show in the late 90s), it's taken on that stereo-typical, trashy reputation. Which is sad, because as long as you don't venture past the boardwalk, it's a great place for great arcade games, with many long standing names there. I will always have fond memories of that place.
I've never watched Jersey Shore, but one gets an impression of its overall lack of quality pretty quickly regardless. I grew up in New Jersey, and when my friends and I heard about the show we were thinking, "Yay! Thanks for manufacturing another reason for the rest of the country to make fun of us, MTV!"
I did read in a Joel Stein/Kevin Smith TIME article that most of the cast members aren't actually from NJ though, which I thought was interesting.
