National Novel Writing Month.

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

National Novel Writing Month.

Post by Valkyrie-Favor »

I'd write a better introduction, but that would take too long right now. I'll have to rudely ask you to follow this link...

http://nanowrimo.org/en/dashboard

If my hand is healed November 1st, I will be participating. Any other racketeers joining the fun? Any stories about games or gamers? (Mine isn't, really).

Ive done it every year but two since 99. The first time I didnt do it was two years ago when my grandfather was dying, and last year when one of my fiances best friends died right at the end of October. I wont be doing it this year, but I wish you all luck. Ive only finished it once, but that doesnt matter. One of the guys who use to run it had a great quote that I used when my friends and family thought it was stupid or silly. I will paraphrase since I cant seem to find the quote:

People are going to tell you that it is stupid, a fools errand, or a waste of time, to try and write a novel in a month. But, for those brave individuals who attempt, and those wise individuals who finish, it is a triumph. Ask them "who among you have ever written a novel, much less one in a month?" they will all shake their heads at you and say no. Hold your head high and know that you have accomplished something that the average person could not, would not, and will not do.

Would they consider it cheating if I tried to use my previous work and finish it? lol

Does it have to be a novel novel?

I've considered trying it before but have never actually done it. I kinda doubt that will change this year, but you never know.

Good luck to you if you decide to participate.

It's good to get on your butt and write. Good for your brain and your soul! A productive writer with a plan could get 50,000 words in a week and then revise. That's at professional level. I don't know if mine will hit 50,000 or not; it's a novel idea but may not need much space. We'll see what it grows into.

Its 50k words in a month. So, a short novel, but yeah. I think I got to 30k, if that.

By novel, of course, I mean both a descriptor of story length and the notion of being new... two meanings... it's a homonym...

Forget it.
