I agree. I don't think that we will ever see another His Girl Friday.

(Not that it is one of my favorite comedies, but it is a shame that the studios do not makle movies like that any more.)
THIS IS 40 is good people.

Would that really count? Its more of a documentary than a comedy.

I thought of another one for my list, which I need to change out. The Dish is one of the finest comedies ever made. Working Dogs other film, The Castle, is another fantastic comedy. I cannot wait for the US release of Any Questions for Ben.

Luke wrote:^ Yup.

Funnier movies off the top of my head, not going back an entire decade:

THIS IS 40
T0Y STORY 3
KNOCKED UP
CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS
CONAN O'BRIEN CAN'T STOP
BRIDESMAIDS
THE MUPPETS
KUNG-FU PANDA 1 & 2
BEING ELMO
................

I could easily name dozens, but THE HANGOVER is on the same level as HOT TUB TIME MACHINE.
Reading most of that list I'm thinking to myself "really?!" lol. I've seen most of those movie's and I wouldn't say they can hold a candle to The Hangover. Guess that's why they call it opinions.

To each there own.

Wait five years and see which movie that will still get a laugh out of you. When the references aren't relevant anymore, good writing wins.

Monty Python's Life of Brian
Evil Dead 2
The Naked Gun-trilogy
Clerks 2 (I love the original Clerks and the animated series too)
Either Airplane or Hot Shots!

Other (to me, mostly for nostalgic reasons) notable movies would probably be
Super Hero Movie
One of the Police Academy movies
Scary Movie 1-3
I cant actually remember how good Guest House Paradiso (based on Bottom) was, but Bottom is hands down the funniest sitcom ever.

This is why old South Park episodes are better than new South Park episodes (even though you are the one who defended the new episodes in some thread, if I recall correctly :) )
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

You shouldn't judge a series if you've only seen one episode. But it might not be up your alley. It's violent, chaotic and obscene and it doesn't try to please every one by being as mild mannered as possible the same way more popular mainstream sitcoms do. There's plenty of vulgar and slapstick jokes, but there's also more intelligent humor amongst it all. I have only seen the first two episodes of The Young Ones (I do plan to watch that and filthy Rich & Catflap) so I don't know if this also applies to later episodes, but the way I see it is that Bottom is a more raunchy version of Young Ones. Less of the hippie guy, more of the violent punk :)

Intresting bit of trivia: Rik Mayall advertised Nintendo games
Starwing
Super Mario All-Stars
Street Fighter II Turbo
Nigel Mansell's World Championship Racing
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
Why don't they make video game commercials like that anymore?

Dumb and Dumber
Tommy Boy
Army of Darkness
Office Space
Naked Gun

Close runner ups would be the Vacation movies with Chevy Chase.

That's the thing, Vyvyan is my favorite character. Ah well, perhaps I'll give it another shot some time.

Though I've seen the Bottom Live bloopers and that was pretty funny.
