Whats Your Top 5 Favorite Comedies?

Post by MulishaSoldier929 »

Thought i would make this just 4 fun! Really got me thinking and I even surprised myself on what I would put in my own top 5.

In no particular order,
-Caddyshack
-National Lampoons Christmas Vacation
-Airplane!
-The Hangover
-Office Space

10 years ago I would of probably had Billy Madison or Happy Gilmore up there. Funny on how taste can change and how even 30 year old movies can still cracked me up time and time again.

What would be your top 5?

Well this isn't just the last movie type thread, this is a specific "top 5" thread.

I dont know if I can set a particular order (except for #1) but my favorites are:

#1 Three Amigos
Holy Grail
Coming to America
Duck Soup
A Night At The Opera
Ishtar.

Yes. Ishtar.

Believe it or not, 99% of the people who loathe Ishtar are people who have never seen it. I was part of that group for years until a few years ago. My wife loved the movie and I thought she was retarded. Then I watched it. It's got its low points, yes. There's no denying that. But the first 30 minutes and last 30 minutes are probably some of the most quotable moments in film I can think of.

Dustin Hoffman and Warren Beatty worked out great for that film. It's huge (over) budget and lenghty production time hindered it, of course. Also, reviews almost always referenced the budget and production time as problems 'with' the movie instead of reviewing the film itself. It's actually quite funny.

Never heard of Ishtar so I IMDB'd it. Here's a fun fact: "The film's budget was $55 million; it bombed at the box office, making only $12.7 million, a loss of over $42 million." I wouldn't judge until I see the film myself tho. You really can't trust movie reviewers or even box office numbers on some movies. If I remember right Office Space didn't do very well until it went to video.

Didn't care much for The Three Amigos but to be fair I think last time I saw it was in the late 90's.

Annie Hall
Duck Soup
Lost in America
Monty Python's Life of Brian
The Party

Some of these are kind of compromise-picks. I'd put The Meaning of Life, right up there with Life of Brian, but I don't want to list multiple Monty Python movies. Similarly, I'm not committed to saying that Duck Soup is the best Marx Brothers movie or Annie Hall is the best Woody Allen comedy... but it's what I'm saying for now!
