Wow, what's the price tag on it?

My local K-Mart didn't seem to have any old games last time I checked (at least anything older than PS2) but they did have an old Sega display case. Kinda like this one:

As a kid (5-8) I couldn't understand how many of the children of my age treated their PS1 games so poorly. They were always from lower income white trash families. You'd think that people who have less money to spend wouldn't be so eager to buy expensive video games to their children just so they can break them.
Even with out parents nagging I knew early on that you need to take good care of CDs because they break easily and you just don't leave them lying around with out a cover. It's like littering nature or being cruel to animals or little kids, it's something every sane person should automatically know to not do and feel wrong when doing so.

I remember being forced to go to some kids birthday back when I was in kindergarten and that brat had a shelf full of PS1 games. All the discs were scratched as hell, lying around in his room on the floor, under toys and so on. He had like 35-45 PS1 games and pretty much all of them were ruined or barely functional. My youngest cousin who's like 12 or 13 (!!) is still keeping all his PS3 games like that. Just a big mess, game discs lying on the floor getting stomped on, between book pages, under a pile of school books... it hurts my soul to see such negligence. Dont the parents of those brats care that they are literally destroying thousands of euros worth of video games?

My dad told me off as a kid when I left his PC CDs laying around. I learned quick.

If you always put everything away where it should go and take care of your stuff, you'll never have to worry about losing them or ruining them.

See also, "I maxed out all four of my Turtles with 99 scroll weapons each and still got annihilated inside the Technodrome by floating soldiers I somehow couldn't kill, and needed to to vent my supreme frustration on something immediately available." That NES controller had it coming.

...and now, just for curiosity's sake, I look up an FAQ online and discover I didn't need to hit those laser soliders at all? I could have just ducked and they would have floated harmlessly by!?

Some parents are idiots. They were spoiled/dumb kids and still dont know any better now that they have progeny.

Rich or poor, if you dont know how to take care of your shit, then you dont deserve it.

Of course we are all guilty at least once of not taking care of our things, but we do realize that having stuff costs money.

So teach your kids the value of stuff.
