Re: Video Game "Look what I found"
the frys in indianapolis is HUGE. it's one of the converted Incredible Universe stores. it's the size of about 5-6 best buys, so it seems, with a ton of headroom. really cool.CRTGAMER wrote:They started in the San Jose area initially expanding with four stores there. Now all over California and there is one in Vegas as well. I hope they keep growing, the "Home Depot" of electronic stores with great prices. They even beat Wallymart when it comes to basics such as HDMI and Optical cable. My local store recently got rid of all the overhead racking to give it more of a "Best Buy" look. I miss the older racking that had stuff packed to the ceiling. It was an easy way to spot SKU overstock when a peg hook is empty.GamerMON wrote:Why are there no frys in KC?

We have only one up here in Washington and it is awesome! I would love it if they would put in a couple more Fry's about the NW.
Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.

If the Attachment Command gets fixed, I'll add a group shot picture later, Google Image shots are included as a hold over.
I was debating to put this post on the Gamestop or PlaynTrade Thread. A lot happened in a couple days including stuff related to the other Threads, so here goes. I watched a video clip on Wii Boy and his Blob a few days ago which also showed a bit of the NES version in action. I knew of the shape shifting game mechanics in the game but surprised how well it looked! The Wii version unfortunately only uses the Remote, no Classic Control and not even a sideways NES style on the Remote. Eventually I may pick up the Wii version just to see if its any good. The original really intrigued me, so decided to make a run to try and find it.
Salvation Army Thrift Store Stop 1
I hit a few Thrift stores first, they always have NES carts on hand. No luck on the Blob game but I did manage to find a very nice Flight Stick with a HOTAS, that beautiful huge Throttle.
PC Thrustmaster Top Gun Afterburner II - $15.00 $6.50
Tuesdays are half off at the local Salvation Army stores on electronics, I managed to talk down just a little more with a concern it maybe defective. I mean who would donate such a gorgeous Flightstick. Anyone who has been following my Gameport to USB Guide, knows I love Flight Sims.

Looking underneath revealed a hidden allen wrench, the Flightstick comes apart for a wider stance!
Built in Rudder Control in the HOTAS! The throttle has detents for idle and afterburner.

Retro Game Store
My local Retro game store had NES Boy Blob in stock but wanted fifteen bucks. I knew it was going for around five bucks online so I held off. A thrift store across the street had an interesting old Star Wars game.
PC Star Wars Droid Works - $2.00

Okay so its an educational game, but different and it is Star Wars. Build robots then "drive" them on various missions similar to the slow tank explore mechanics that I like as in Rockstar's Wild Metal.

DAY TWO - Salvation Army 2nd Visit
Remember the Flight Stick at the top of this post? It works just fine, but the rubber grips had some serious sticky stuff on it from a cheetos munching gamer. Maybe why it was donated, I had to multi scrub it off with Liftoff, 3in1 Oil and finally a damp rag and water. I really like the way it has an option to split apart. Once I returned home the day before, I researched online and discovered a wing was missing.
Thrustmaster should have designed that spare wing to bolt on even when the two halves are put together. I was determined to find the missing wing for the Flightstick so went back to the store. I looked in different sections; Maybe in electronics as a printer bracket or with sporting accessories mistaken for a shin guard or maybe even piled with the kids toys? No luck, it could be lost at any Salvation Army outlet or maybe not even donated. Every time I visit a Salvation Army I know the OCD in me will be looking for that silly wing. Meanwhile the Flightstick works just fine as one unit, if need be I can always make a replacement wing support of sorts.
PlaynTrade
Got there a couple minutes before 11, the time posted for the store to open. A chance they may have the NES Boy Blob game. Waited till a quarter after and the store was still closed, the opening employee must have overslept. PlaynTrade is being killed by Gamestop, the store is always empty. A shame, they have consoles set up to play test any game in the store.
I posted this picture from Lisa's Retro Game Store directory a while back. All the consoles ready to play and no customers in the PlaynTrade store.
Big Lots
Killed time waiting for PlaynTrade to open. I knew all the Wii games were going for $18.99 but figured the cases were all open with the discs removed to prevent theft. Turns out the cases are just empty displays, new sealed copies are kept at the cash register. I ended up buying a new sealed Namco Museum Megamix. I always have held off on this game since I already own so many Arcade compilations on the PS2.
ALL new Wii games are a flat rate at $18.99 at Big Lots
A hit or miss if a good deal or not, at least worth a look.
Gamestop
PlaynTrade still was not open so walked to the other end of the mall to Gamestop. I confirmed that a used copy of Namco Museum is $19.99, so felt good buying it new at Big Lots.
Weird timing visiting Gamestop, every shift employee were in the store along with the District and Regional Managers. I talked to the big wigs and posted some info back at the Gamestop Good Bad Ugly Thread.
Bookoff
My favorite CIB used game store, they still had the Special Markdown sale going on recent titles. Skyward Sword at $25.00 still tempted me, some even had the bonus music CD. I still am convincing myself in not buying since I own Twilight Princess already and know Skyward will eventually become a selects for twenty, but ooooh that bonus music CD is teasing me! However, I did find a game I had just bought earlier.
Wii Namco Museum Megamix - $12.50

Namco first had a Remix version, but the Megamix is newer with more games included. Six of the games also received a graphic "remix". The best part is CLASSIC CONTROLLER support! This allows my PS1 Arcade stick to work with a Mayflash adapter! But oh crap, now I have to go back and return the Big Lots copy, lucky I did not break the seal. Ah well, maybe that PlaynTrade employee finally opened the store.
PlaynTrade Visit 2
It is now one in the afternoon, I returned the Namco game to Big Lots and walked down to PlaynTrade which was finally opened. I asked if they had new hours, the employee apologized and offered me a discount of any used game I would pick. No luck on NES Boy Blob, but found a couple of other things.
PS2 Silent Scope 3 0.99¢ 0.89¢

A blue CD game, unfortunately does not install in the PS2 hard drive. Not a big deal, I'll convert it to an ISO the same way I installed blue CD Half Life. I wasn't even sure if I had Silent Scope 3 and I already own the Dreamcast version, but at less the a buck CIB why not. A shame neither console version does not support a Lightgun. It would have been an interesting way to play, the scope shake aspect in trying to steady the gun site.
Wii Monster Hunter Tri 14.99 $13.99

Been curious about this game, held off since it seemed similar to the Rail Shooters I already own, N64 and Wii Sin & Punishment. Looks to be a good game and it has an icon on the front cover for a Wii accessory, the Wii Speak.
Wii Speak Microphone 4.99 4.49

I will probably never use this since I do not care for conversing online gaming and listen to trash talk. However, maybe might discover a unique feature such as Gamecube Odama that offers a different style of gameplay? Ah well at least I can verify it works using Monster Hunter.
I do not shop PlaynTrade enough to become a member. They have a nice selection of games including older cart games, but the prices are a little high. Not EBay high, but more expensive then my Thrift Store and Swap Meet finds.
Anyways, the only discount I got was the standard Insider Club price. Big deal, but still nice to get something for having to drive back later. As for the Wii games and Wii microphone I'll give full review back in my Wii Thread later on.
I almost forgot about NES Boy and His Blob. Just ordered from Amazon for eight bucks shipped and it includes a sleeve and manual!

Damn CRT those are some nice finds ^^
Craigslist Philadelphia (aka filthydelphia) lol
So I actually lived there for 5 years while in college and never really found a whole lot accept for Goodwill down by Columbus Blvd and Salvation Army up on 17th and Market. (CIB American McGee's Alice $4, Castlevania IV $2). Today my bro who's moving there with his gf randomly decided to hit up craigslist and found this.
Tony Hawk Underground 2 -Xbox
Alone in the Dark - Xbox 360
PSP 2000
Gameboy Micro with 3 faceplates
Gamecube power cord
Xbox power cord
PS2 power cord
Xbox 360 component cable
Xbox 360 plug and play charge kit
Xbox 360 rechargeable battery pack
Zelda gold cart - NES
Cruisin USA - N64
Took my bro's offer of $45. He's keeping the PSP and GBA and giving the rest of the stuff to me for FREE. Awesome

Re: Video Game "Look what I found"
Never played it, It gave me that impression just from the game cover due to the similarity of the sea monster in Sin & Punishment. Okay now I am curious, I bought the game based on the Wii Speak test and remembering recommendations here on Racketboy a long time back. I'll give it a go in the next day or two and post a proper Review later.Opa Opa wrote:Uh... Monster Hunter isn't a rail-shooter.CRTGAMER wrote:Wii Monster Hunter Tri 14.99 $13.99

Re: Video Game "Look what I found"
Stopped by an amazing game store today and picked up:
Saturn 6 player muli tap $12.99 (available for trade if interested)
Dreamcast "Millennium 2000" controller $10
Playstation to Dreamcast controller converter $10
Mega Man 64 $20
Pokemon Heart Gold $20 (the wife was really wanting to play a pokemon game again)
I think I did pretty good on the Multi tap and the DC controller.

Re: Video Game "Look what I found"
Mega Man 64 has kind of crept up in price of late, hasn't it? I think I got my cart-only for $8-10 a year ago. Some real active eBay auctions pushing it past $20.
