I loved Ponyo. It gets criticized a bit by people, but I thought it was one of the cuter Ghibli movies.

Maybe it's just me but... how are they going to pull that off? This isn't the 70's or 80's (Which was a great time in terms of how filmmakers used to show just how crazy and dangerous high-school is. See Class Of 1984, Massacre At Central High and Heathers for some examples of that) and after Columbine, Virginia Tech and many other cases I just can't see this working.

Two couples on a Holiday. One guy goes missing. Where is he and what happened...

Not a bad movie per se, but too flat and a bit boring...

The movie also goes back and forth in time a lot, which can get a bit confusing...

Just watched the animated Dark Knight Returns. Good music, but that's about it. Oh, also, its nice to see they tried to mimic the art style of the comic. I.E. - It was awful. I couldn't get past the absolutely atrocious art of TDKR, so I never finished it. I think I got through maybe 3 pages. The art in the comic was so damn terrible...




I don't know if the movie follows the comic very well or not but if it does - I noticed SEVERAL things that were straight up lifted from this story for Dark Knight Rises. I guess that could be considered cool, I really don't know.

The one lift that stood out the most as of right now was where Batman resurfaces in the story. Even the cops do the same thing they did in Rises. "Oh, you're in for a show tonite." Also, I guess it takes place 10 years after Batman disappears, just like Rises, and there's a scene in Rises with Bruce trying out some sort of prosthesis/cybernetic thing on his leg. He has something similar in the Returns cartoon.


It was ok. It wasn't terrible, but some of the voice cast was just puzzling. Peter Weller as Batman? Are Bruce Greenwood and Kevin Conroy just unavailable? The voice they got for Gordon was weird too. High pitched and nasal. Bryan Cranston was great in Year One. They should have gotten him. It just didn't sound right.

And even though he has a VERY tiny speaking part in this version, Joker being voiced by Michael Emerson (Ben from LOST) was (no pun intended) laughable. Even though I didn't like DiMaggio as Joker in the Hood movie, he was still a better choice than Emerson!

The novelization of TDKR is over two billion pages. Sounds about right.

I'd love to read the novel's descriptions of Bane's voice/Batman's angry voice. "Gravely" and "Mechanical" can only be used so many times...
