CPU AI can be exploited in ways actual human players can't.

I'm not talking about cheating.

You likely don't even realize that you're exploiting AI weaknesses when you do.

I've come to the realization that I'm pretty awful at most gaming genres.

I never know where to go or what to do in RPG's. That, along with a short attention span means I get a couple hours in, get tired of reading and go do something else.

I suck hard at fighting games. I recently tried playing Street Fighter 2 again on Easy, and got my ass handed to me by Blanka. Since when was he so damned fast?

I like racing simulators, but I hate how I always seem so underpowered compared to my opponents. Wipeout was the worst one for me. Nothing like watching your opponents leave you behind right at the starting line.

For me, sports games are too much like masturbation without the payoff.

I can do halfway decent at most FPS's. By halfway decent, I mean I'm not the sole reason why my team loses when I play multiplayer.

As for platformers, well..I have yet to save the Princess.

I feel like this a lot sometimes, though if I take one game and practice it long enough I can get pretty good at that particular game. I can really master certain series like Mega Man where the gist of things doesn't really change much.

My problem is after I start one game I usually get distracted by another game before I can get good at the one I was already playing so I end up being kind of mediocre at everything.

I've always been awful at racing games and always get stuck in RPGs though too. Doesn't matter how long I play those.

Yep, I've come to the conclusion that it's probably easier to race in real life, than it is to race in a video game.

Oh! I forgot about schmups too. I've beaten exactly one, LifeForce on the NES, and I used the Game Genie. One of my favorites was R-Type for the SNES, but I could never get past the first level. I always enjoyed the music from the little intro bit though.

Big fat nope to this.

Anyways, while I'm extremely good at fps games, I fail at shmups and fighting games. Especially fighting games. Which sucks because I actually like the genre a fair bit. Same with shmups.

Gunpei Yokoi would be 71 today. I don't know about you guys, but the gameboy was a staple of my childhood. I'm pouring one out for him.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
