Retro Game Quilts

Post by Luke »

I'll post some of my Mother's work when she sends it to me, but she's been quilting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and "all that stuff" for decades.

She is looking to make some "8-bit quilts" or as she calls them "tendo" quilts for me and to sell custom orders.

Any suggestions for patterns? Anyone interested in one day owning a hand sewed quilt featuring your favorite 8-bit game?

I'm seriously considering asking my Mother to make a quilt with the first shot in Metroid, where Samus is standing between the two pillars.

One thing my Mom would also like me to ask, "If you did get an 8-bit quilt would you like solid colors, or would you prefer the blocks to be patterned to resemble an actual quilt?".

I like the idea of an old timey quilt meshed with an 8-bit game, but others may prefer solid colors.

Let me know. Something I may be able to put up for the X-Mas auction.

A few years ago at the Child's Play auction I picked up a retro-themed quilt.

I would definitely be interested in something similar, but for a Metroid scene.

Metroid or Double Dragon would be pretty awesome...

I've been trying to get my mom to make me a quilt, too. I think I mentioned it on here at some point.

We've got the right colors picked out right now, so when she's done with her current project she's going to see how well she can put Mario together.

If nothing else, I'll probably end up with at least a sweet throw pillow or two.

Thanks for the pics.

I would be interested in an original Super Mario Brothers quilt if the price was right. Something similar to Mr Popo's quilt.
