Silmarillion seems like one of those things that would work better as an HBO miniseries.

Yeah, at a certain point I want Tolkien stuff to just stay in books. It might be cool to see something like Beren and Luthien play out on the big screen, but it's always been something of a "nerd badge of honor" to be "that guy" who knows all of Tolkien's stuff because of spending countles hours reading and rereading J.R.R. and Christopher's stuff. I admit that I sometimes get perturbed when I try to have a LOTR discussion with someone only to find out they've seen the films but never read a word of any bookBoringSupreez wrote:This.Luke wrote:Or just left alone.MrPopo wrote:Silmarillion seems like one of those things that would work better as an HBO miniseries.

Didn't find that snobby. I'd never say "I admit that I sometimes get perturbed when I try to have a Batman Nolanverse discussion with someone only to find out they've seen the films but never read the scripts", but I get where you are coming from.dsheinem wrote: /snobbishness
In light of your comment, I'm disappointed in people who claim to love Lord of The Rings, but don't take the time to read the novels. It's like loving a movie and not bothering to watch the Director's cut. Plus we're talking about the source material, using your own imagination, and at the same time learning about an entire different universe; lots of "Concerning _______".
