I picked up a CIB copy of Blast Lacrosse at Goodwill for $3.

I paid $50 for that about 3 years ago, super fun game and not too common. I think it's come down a bit, but still in the $25+ range.

VGPC has been counting JP sales as well (this is somewhat new) and my guess would be the lower value JP version may be bringing vgpc's price down.

Additionally, as you know, vgpc doesn't differentiate completeness / condition and if you look on ebay right now, there are more "disc only" copies of MSH, meaning they will sell in the $15-25 range and that will continue to skew the vgpc price on it.

Stores that use vgpc are a good thing for the retro consumer, if you understand how vgpc works, meaning you will almost always find disc games to be cheaper, and cart games to be more expensive. I always get a kick out of this - I mean, "you're running a store, wouldn't you do some research?". There is a somewhat local pawn shop I go to now and then - about 8 months ago they just randomly had Secret of Evermore, one loose, one CIB / Mint. Each priced at $19.99.

Agreed. I like the store best before they used VGPC to price their video games (i.e., when I could purchase Rescue Rangers 2 (NES) and other rarities for as little as $2.99). Now that they are using it, however, it is still not too bad. They sell mostly computer equipment, and I think VGPC is their way of quickly pricing games and also making sure that they receive something close to market value.

They also do not have the time to do much research on how condition affects value; so, I had a experience similar to yours very recently. When I visited about a month ago, they had two copies of Turok: Dinosaur Hunter (N64). One was cart only; the other was sealed. Both were $2.99. (I picked up the cart only version because I do not collect CIB N64 games...and the sealed copy was not there the next time I visited the store.)

Yeah, it still floats around $30 or so. The case is a little rough, but I've always got replacements.

Today I was in some random antique/random old junk shop and found a box for the "Aladdin Deck Enhancer" for NES, which apparently upgraded the capability of the NES for a few games designed for it. Intrigued, I gladly bought it for $6.

I opened it up, and what was inside? A 70s era action figure of Spock from Star Trek (missing pants) wrapped in tissues, with the instructions for the Aladdin. @_@ And looking up the deck enhancer online, it apparently isn't easy to find for cheap. OH WELL. :/

Sorry that happened but it is a funny story. Dont feel too bad I have been hit by the failure to open it before you buy it gremlin myself.
