Same thing I do. Though I tend to hit each section and at least mark them all read if it isn't a section I'm interested in.

You'll miss too much if you just click on the 'new' links and stuff. It also leads people to answer questions that were already answered previously because they didn't actually read the entire conversation.

Honestly, 90% of the time I come here, it's just "View My Posts" and see the threads I've contributed to. The other 10% is just active posts. (I'm waaaay too old for these kinds of post speeds.)
My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.
Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.

I typically go to active threads, I'm an impatient person, I need replies, fast.

"View Active Topics" is slightly superior to "View New Posts" and is the only way to really browse the forum in a way that puts everything and anything that's had any activity at all in one easy to browse place.
I finally joined the "View Active Topics" club recently. Yes, it's a superior way to browse the forums. Not sure why it took me so long to convert from "View new posts". Now I'm suitably enlightened.

I'm still looking for how to "view all unread posts" on the full site. It's an option on the mobile version of the site.

Where do you see that on the mobile version?

Tap the magnifying glass on the top right.

Now that I think about it, I could probably just use the URL. I've just been wondering if there was a link somewhere on the full site.

I used to go through the sections I was interested in but I discovered just clicking "view new posts" to be easier.
