Is it the humor that turned you off with The Evil Dead 2? That seems to be the main difference between the two movies. How did you feel about Army of Darkness?noiseredux wrote:^that's pretty awesome! The Evil Dead is one of my favorite movies of all time. Yes. I said The Evil Dead. Not The Evil Dead 2.
I really like the influences, references, and people involved in this game. Evil Dead, Buffy, heavy metal bands, indie noisepop, arcade beat 'em ups, James Gunn, Tara Strong (Batgirl from the old Batman cartoons), Matt Rosembaum (The Flash in Justice League Unlimited and Lex Luthor on Smallville), 80s rock/pop, retro gaming, punk rock, etc, etc. It's just a mix of stuff and people that really appeal to me.
I think one of most obvious example of that cool, arcade style vibe in this game is Sparkle Hunting. I mean just look at this:

The bright colors, the big letters, the silly hearts, the numbers going towards your score, it just looks like a screen shot from an arcade game that could have come out years ago when the arcade scene wasn't dead
