If I weren't here finishing all the classes I failed I'd be in college.
If I were in college I would be going and doing computer engineering.

Right now I'm working full time night shifts at Walmart, while trying to join the air force. If I weren't, I'd be attending college as well. If it works out, I'll get some classes in 4-6 years. Otherwise, next fall.

Re: What Would You Be Doing...
I'm currently doing absolutely nothing. I've been out of school for about 4 years - dropped out of high school, no college for me, but I did at least get my G.E.D which probably doesn't mean shit anymore anyway. And I've never had a job (I have actually been hired at a couple of places but I couldn't make myself go).
I'm not lazy, and I wouldn't consider myself depressed, but I have little to no interest in anything. That, and anxiety/general discomfort around people/being in public has made it hard to take any initiative to do anything. So for me it's hard to imagine the alternative.

So how do you find a way to make ends meet (if you don't mind me asking...)?harper wrote:I'm currently doing absolutely nothing. As for me, I am not sure what else I'd be doing (or might still do). I'd hate to think that future careers or ventures are somehow closed to me just because I have "chosen" a profession and currently enjoy what I do, though. I already get paid to talk about, research, and write on things of interest to me and am afforded plenty of free time to do so and leeway to alter my focus...but I could perhaps enjoy somethng more "structured" if it included lots of global travel and the same level of reciprocal intellectual stimulation.
Re: What Would You Be Doing...
If I wasn't studying Computer Science in college, I'd probably be studying something else. To be perfectly honest my dream job would be to work in film (particularly animation). I decided against that though, I went for the more financially dependable and secure option. In addition to that I have a particular lifestyle I want to live that my dream job might not have been able to fulfill.
I've also been fretting over my minor lately, I've committed myself to Japanese but strongly considered art. Additionally, I've taken an interest in game design. This is strange because never in my life have I considered game design as a job or hobby. I suppose it has a lot to do with studying programming and then realizing that I actually have the tools to create my own game, although it would have to be something like an RPG (which is actually what I want to develop).
Really I'm just at that point in life when the decisions you make actually set and solidify the direction of your life, and it's making me nervous.

Re: What Would You Be Doing...
If I could be doing what I truely love, I would be teaching/writing music for a living. I've loved music since I was a kid, and was raised listening to music constantly.
I have recently decided to not rely on others to make some noise, and have started learning instruments that I am less familiar with. Although I don't expect to make money from it, I do hope to piece together a few tunes.
That aside, since I don't see me sustaining myself by my music anytime soon, I would love to learn more about electronics. I'm more interested in the hardware aspect.

Well I think the intent was job or higher education related, I suppose you could ponder about running away to join the circus or something.SamuraiMegas wrote:Does it have to be a job? People started saying jobs and I don't see anything about it being job specific.
