Yeah, I was looking at the amazon page again a bit more closely and noticed the shift in reviews after the patch. Rating probably won't ever recover from those pre-patch reviews, though.

So which one is the one to own for people without the original boards: 360 or ps2?

^Yes. Post-patch 360 DOJ is where it's at.

360 port has both white label and black label along with x mode (DFK style arrange)

ps2 version has death label (boss rush)

The one thing they never patched on the 360 port is how damn ugly the game looks compared to mame or the ps2 port.

Well... I'm sold. Looks like I have a few games to track down. Dodonpachi and akai katana will probably be the first two. But man, a couple of the region free Japanese games look amazing.

Lots of great shmups. My one recommendation is that you do not get Bullet Soul. It's not a CAVE game, but it's a region free shmup. And not a very good one.

As far as US releases, Akai Katana would be on the top of my recommendations. I like it a lot more than deathsmiles, but I certainly don't dislike deathsmiles.

Interesting how the only two 360 horis are the ones that got US releases.
