What was the last movie you've seen?

He's in it much more this time, but usually as a klutz for comic relief.

<snip> that movie comedy has REALLY sucked for over a decade now. Almost every film replaces wit with shock, the writing is almost all formulaic, and we have no modern day great film comedians or comedy directors (no, Apatow doesn't count). Le sigh.
Austin Powers?
Yeah, no. Not at all.

Comedy movies haven't REALLY sucked at all in the past decade (animated film counts). Even this year we were lucky enough to get THIS IS 40, oh wait, Apatow doesn't count because you say so. Le sigh indeed.

I should be at the theater right now. another le sigh. Don't want to watch the same movie twice in one day, will have to wait for friends to get their schedules in order.

Noise reminded me that by "Austin Powers" I really meant "Dumb and Dumber"

Nice.

Or BILL AND TED, or WAYNE'S WORLD, or GHOSTBUSTERS, etc. Not that I don't think AUSTIN POWERS has its moments, and dick and fart/shit/piss jokes are more than welcome, but it's not top 15 material.

40YOV was my exception. In probably 10+ years, that made me laugh hard; something that other "comedies" have failed at doing. I blame American Pie for starting the whole gross=funny trend.

FWIW, I agree with you. I enjoyed it when I watched it, but I didn't think it was OMG BEST FUNNAY MOVIE EVAR as so many people seem to think. Of course that's fine, opinions are different.

I just wish that some of my friends wouldn't say things like "OMG, how do you not like Lebowski so much that you'd want to keep a copy in your pants every day?!?" every time they say a line from the movie and I don't get it. I don't do it to them if they miss a Monty Python reference. :?

I know what you mean. There are plenty of movies that I think are really funny, ones I can watch over and over again, ones that I liked once but not a second time as much, etc, but I don't shove any down my friend's throats.
So Hobie, what is your favorite color?

Speaking of comedies I really want to see BULLET TO THE HEAD now:

Sly's body looks like a GI Joe figure that was melted by a magnifying glass. :ewww:

Reservoir Dogs.

I've seen most of Quentin Tarantino's movies, but not this one.

I liked it, but it's no Pulp Fiction.
