Hope some of you guys go see EXPENDABLES 2 today, would love to hear what you think of it. I'm going to see it again today, in the hopes of being in a packed theater.

Gonna wait for the DVD/BR. The 1st one was okay but, it was a bit over the top on violence.


Oh and I saw the Big Lebowski... Definitely didn't live up to the hype. Some funny stuff but not legendary like I've heard.

I saw some of the dailies back in February. Even without the special effects, it was awesome.

Over the top is what Stallone is all about (even made a movie called exactly that).

Expendables 2 is even more over the top on everything, except for Dolph. He's mostly the largest man ever to be scripted for comic relief. You'll miss out by not seeing this in the theater. The sound is incredible. There are even a few IMAX worthy moments (Yay sex plane!) that look incredible on the big screen.

But yeah, it's not for everybody as I could enjoy a movie where these guys simply sit around and eat sandwiches (same with Marvel's The Avengers).

I really enjoy LEBOWSKI, but I agree it's not legendary, epic, nor a monument of magnificent proportions. But it's still pretty great. It's a character piece, and you have to at least agree that every actor and actress gave phenomenal and believable performances. Hell, even Flea was great.

Less than an hour away to going to the theater, again. I should ask the manager about having a reserved seat after all the movies I've seen the past few years.

Some of the filming was leaked a looooong time ago (has to still be up somewhere) and Christ is Sly one intense director. I couldn't imagine working with him. Not that h is a perfectionist, well kinda sorta, but it is like red bull flows through his veins.

I am a huge Dolph Lundgren fan.. is his role in this film really small?

This aggression against The Big Lebowsi will not stand.

It trails only The Holy Grail as the funniest movie ever. There's never been a better looking or more artfully constructed comedy.

That's a list of comedies I can watch over and over, so some "funny the first time only" comedies don't really make the cut, nor do comedies which just haven't aged well...

I will say (as I have before) that movie comedy has REALLY sucked for over a decade now. Almost every film replaces wit with shock, the writing is almost all formulaic, and we have no modern day great film comedians or comedy directors (no, Apatow doesn't count). Le sigh.

Kevin Smith would show up in my top 25, but I consider all these better. Anchorman, Bad Santa, Billy Madison, The Cable Guy, Best in Show, and Shaun of the Dead would also be in a slightly larger list...but I think all these are just stronger and more consistent films.

I really, really relate to Clerks. Love that movie.
