Post Office problem

Post by RyaNtheSlayA »

So I sold a few items on eBay and I seem to be having an issue with the Post Office.

People payed for their items, I printed out shipping labels with PayPal and took them to the post. Everything seemed fine. When checking up on their tracking numbers that night, both said "Delivered - Denver" and I passed it off as USPS's system being strange. Fast forward to today, and it still says Delivered to Denver, but none of the packages were going to Denver, and none of the items have apparently arrived to their destination (Priority Mail says it should take about 3 days, which would be today).

I'm not sure what course of action to take. I'm going in to the Post Office tomorrow to try and figure this out. Any advice?

It makes my gut wrench, as the items in question total about $300. :?

Definitely get in touch with the Post Office right away. Sounds like it was incorrectly scanned somewhere down the line or something. They might tell you that insufficient time has passed to start worrying though.

Hopefully it was a simple mix-up and it'll turn up soon enough. Also take a print out of the tracking info to the post office with you maybe.

It does happen.

Some times a package is thrown in the wrong box or mislabeled along the way.

It does resurface after a while, but it does leave you with egg on your face while to try to figure out what to do next.

A few years back, I ordered the last volume of Buso Renkin manga from Rightstuf.com.

I checked the tracking and it was fine. Then it wasnt. The Order went from Iowa and all the way to the postal center in Southern California. It got stuck there for a few days :( and no movement. A few days later guess where the tracking finally showed it? It was In Pennsylvania!

I have a Po Box in Calexico, California. which is (pretty much)the southernmost city in California. With the main Socal center only a few hours away (a day or two with mail service), how did it get sent all the way across the country?

My guess is that it got thrown in the wrong bin or it got stuck to another package.

I did eventually get my book. It finall went through the whole process again and this time went directly to my po box.

Hopefully yours is a simple problem. Maybe the plane/truck failed to head out. Engine problems and had to be moved to another vehicle?

We like to get our mail on time and we sometimes dont realize the infrastructure there is to get our stuff in on time.

Theres bound to be a few hiccups

Oh man do I feel bad for you. Whenever I've had a problem with the Post Office, it's never their fault and they don't care. I hope your post office has better customer service than mine.

I assume you have already done the following, but my plan of action would be:

Inform the buyer of the current situation and ask him/her to contact you if the package does not arrive by Monday.

If on Monday the buyer hasn't received the package, print out duplicate postage stamps from Paypal, and take them to the PO and kindly ask them to track your package, and if they can explain what may have happened.

If it is a "we have no clue" situation, then talk to PayPal's customer service. They may be at fault, and they may provide insurance on the items since you used them as a service.

Of course, keep the buyer updated day to day on what you've tried, and take notes of who you speak to, and when.

If Paypal doesn't take it seriously, throw out "I guess I have no other choice than to contact the Better Business Bureau".

Hope things work out for you.
