Thanks guys!
One of my first purchases will be Sin & Punishment. And I'll be browsing more Wiiware than VC.
I'm thinking once I dig in more and try some stuff out, I'm gonna do a guide on what retro gamers should buy, keeping in mind that a lot of Virtual Console stuff isn't that good of a deal with compilations and emulation around.

I think N64 stuff is the best value as the emulation will be good and a Gamecube controller is probably gonna be better than what you'd have on a PC emulator (without a N64-USB adapter)

For retro games, the Metal Slug Anthology is AWESOME. I'm sure it's been ported to the ps2 and PC, but getting every metal slug game for about 40$ is sweet. It was one of the first Wii games that I bought and still play it.

Cool :)

Ok -- I'm having trouble getting the Internet connection working.
I have my security passcode in and everything, but I keep getting that generic error message.
I tried looking on Nintendo's site, but it isnt much help.
I have a Linksys WRT54GS

I know that when I set mine up, there was a space that I did not notice at the end... maybe thats it... but probably not.
If all else fails check the type of encryption to see what you are using and then search nintendo's site to make sure it is supported.
And as a last resort maybe change your passcode for your router (unless you have dsl and are using the serial number)

I hate the controls on that game for the wii, so I can't play it. I have been meaning to pick up the ps2 one though, great compilation.

Yes - steer clear of the Wii version (Waggle to throw grenades!?). The PS2 Metal Slug anthology is where it's at. The SNK Arcade compilation on PS2 is solid also.

I downloaded the WiiWare Dr. Mario and Toki Tori - both of which are awesome. My wife regularly kicks my ass at the former - it's worth picking up even if you have (like me) the NES version of this game.

I have only downloaded some of the TG-16 shmups on VC - the rest, as you point out, are easily played in other places (and for much cheaper).

Happy Birthday!

Happy B-Day Racket!

If you're looking into WiiWare, here's a couple of suggestions.
-Dr. Mario Rx. A port of the original NES game with nicer graphics, plus a motion controlled version called Virus Buster and online multiplayer.
-Lost Wind. Great 2D (with 3D graphics) platformer that uses the Wiimote to manipulate the wind. Very nice game, has a sequel in development.
-Toki Tori. Straight up port of the Game Boy Color puzzle game with obviously much nicer graphics.
-If you enjoy point and click adventure type games, you might want to look into Strong Bad’s Super Cool Game for Attractive People, a game based off of a popular web-cartoon made by the guys who did the more recent Sam & Max games.

And obviously you have Mega Man 9 to look forward to.

So yeah, enjoy the new Wii!
I wanted to be a Teminator but they require you have an armored hyperalloy skeleton and mine's mostly recycled truck tires.

Happy b-day dude. Always nice to get fun toys for your birthday. Seems to happen less as you get older. :(

Just use a gc controller, works fine.
Also, happy b-day racket.
Don't that just look oh so tasty?

OMG How ignorant of me! A Belated happy birthday to you!! I just saw the Wii question and answered automatically!

N64 emulation is perfect. Highly recommend all the N64 VC titles, I've got Star Fox/Lylat Wars, Paper Mario, Sin & Punishment and F-Zero X.

As for the wifi issue, what security settings are you using on the router? I had a little bit of problem with WPA-PSK, yet it had no problem with WEP or WPA2-PSK interestingly. I'd advise using WPA2-PSK as WEP is easily crackable. Only one problem, DS is not compatible with WPA2. It sucks.
