Racism + Olympics = $tory

Who knows though? May have been wise to have dropped out/be eliminated before a ruckus followed.

It was kinda hard to hear, but I did pick up distinctive Ocarina melodies. Very cool :D

So my wife brought up an interesting point; so the ladies soccer team for Japan lost this morning and they're already on their way home. Other JP athletes who even won gold in another event have already come back to Japan and aren't sticking around for the closing ceremony.
If I was an Olympic athlete, even after my event was done and over with, I'd stay in England, tour around a bit, check out the sites, and then attend the closing ceremony.
Do US athletes come home after their events are done? How about non-US RB'ers; what about your countries?

Yeah, from what I understand, most stay as long as they can. Because afterwards, its right back to training.

Plus, from what I understand on the... "physical relationship" side of things, the Olympics are your best option until you finish your career. Plus, everybody is in pretty damn good shape, so, y'know.

Same here. The mindset I know of is "Yeah, it's the Olympics. It's also vacation">

The only time I "was too cool for school" and it actually paid off was during high school where I "was too cool" to join the marching band I was in to the Atlanta Olympics.

First chair trumpet player, was more interested in girls than playing a trumpet in the Olympics. My parents, my school, my instructor were pissed.

...and then a bomb went off in Atlanta that could have killed me and luckily only injured a few of my classmates from my high school.

Loved band, love still playing music, but marching band is just so...dorky.

Back to the Olympics!

You know how the Japanese are. They're all business. A Japanese would win a gold medal and then they're due back at their desk job the next day. No office party welcomes, no nothing...they just go back to work as if nothing happened. MAYBE a passing 'omedetou'.

Here is how America is celebrating:

To answer your question, I'd probably leave if my event was finished at the very beginning of the Olympics, but if I was done towards the end then I would stick around.

Seriously, what the fuck is up with some young Americans being mad over Pearl Harbor? It was over 70 years ago for fucks sake, even their parents weren't alive back then. Not to mention the fact that what happened then doesn't really scale up to Hiroshima and Nagaski (2400 vs 200k+, mostly military personel vs mostly civilians). What's the point of holding a grudge against things that at best only affected your grand or grand-grand parents? There are many cases where nations have had to suffer a lot more than 9/11 or Pearl Harbor (jews, Holodomor victims and people in ex-Soviet countries in general, native Americans and people of Cambodia for example) who just had to deal with things and moved on with their lives, even if they had to personally suffer.

I wouldn't be so pissed if it didn't remind me of what happened after the earthquake last year. "God is punishing the japs for Pearl Harbor" :x :x :x
