Before someone brings in the tired "but I haven't deprived anyone of a physical thing", think of it like reading someone's personal diary. That doesn't remove the thing either, but provides you with ideas and information that you weren't entitled to without permission.
I love how in a thread about a torrent site at which 99% of it's stock was pirated material, people feel the need to come in and spout their moral vomit.

Yeah yeah, we get it. You're awesome because you pay for HBO. We also don't really care.

Lol at moral vomit...

You chose to publically post your tendency to pirate certain things. I love it when people post things for everyone to see and then begrudge commentary that doesn't agree with them.

Yeah, we get it, you are awesome that your pirate. If you don't want to hear any rebuttal over it, then keep your actions quiet...

You know, it seems "retro" gaming communities have far less people tolerant of piracy -- compared to say, an emulation gaming community where the focus is also on "retro" gaming. I wonder if there's a correlation between the amount of money one spends to maintain this hobby and a negative attitude towards piracy? These are the thoughts that keep me up at night.

Well, not really. (Maybe a little.)

You can refute my comments all you want. You were the one complaining that you didn't like us posting in here basically because we disagreed.

Well emulation is a form of piracy, just not as blatant I guess. So it stands to reason there won't be many anti-piracy advocates on an emulation site.

But I am not necessarily anti-piracy, people will do what they do in their homes. The only thing that bothers me is the trying to justify it arguments. When I just want to say: 'cut the BS and admit it, you want free shit' lol

I currently own 1256 CD based releases. Some of those are 2 to 10 disc sets. Plus I have some vinyl and a few tapes still kicking around. So owning that much music isn't out of the question.

I don't pay for HBO, but that's because I don't watch TV. My TV is used for games and DVD or BD. That's it. Don't make assumptions.

It all simply comes down to the look what I have that you cannot so I am better that you attitude. I see so many people say "look what I bought" and everyone ooh and ahh at it. So what you have more money than someone else so you can buy it. I buy my movies, my games and all my other shit so I am better than you because I have more stuff. IT is a screwed up logic that people who have never done without, gone hungry, saw there utilities shut off or any other bad thing, have.

I try to buy stuff whenever I can, I enjoy having legit copies. There was a time in my life when I had very little and could not afford a trip to Mcdonalds. Did I deserve any less to enjoy things that people with more money than they will ever need enjoy? Is my life worth less than thiers?

I swear a few of you middle class yuppy want to be's need to go down to the real ghetto and see how people live. I am sick of people ripping people who cannot afford the luxuries we all take for granted. So if the dad trying to support his family while working 60 hours a week at two dead end jobs for minimum wage wants to bootleg a Disney movie so his less fortunate kids can enjoy something the rich little kid down the road dont even appreciate then so be it. (terrible sentence structure LOL)

I feel most of you have never really struggled and never understood going to bed hungry, or a christmas or birthday going by giftless or not even mentioned. Deprived of nutrition, proper medical care or any standard of life that we all deserve.

So as these rich people cry the blues because they didnt make enough millions while they pay people shit, then let em cry. Obviously torrents are not hurting them that bad, because I dont see all of the movie studios or recording studios shutting there doors. Metallica my only make 98 million instead of 100, aww poor guys.

Before I go off the deeper end, what I am trying to say is that you need to look at this from another perspective, not just your own.

Mr Lennon: no greed or hunger, a brotherhood of man.....

Just think where the arts would be if the above were true. How much is not put out because someone decided it would not make enough money.

"YOU CANT HAVE THAT YOU ARE POOR - ONLY THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE MONEY MONEY MONEY MONEY CAN"

This is not aimed at anyone in particular, any similarities to anyone was purely unintentional. Now let the blasting BEGIN!!!!!!!!!!

Luxuries, by definition, are something you don't need. There is no justification for stealing it. Now, I download a ton of TV episodes even though I have a cable subscription because I hate the commercials, and if I cancelled the TV portion of my subscription I'd still download the TV episodes. But I don't try to justify it; I want to watch the shows and this is an easy way to do so. If legal action was brought against me then I'd have to pay the piper.

This is off the deep end. You aren't saving yourself from starving by pirating. You said these are luxuries, not everyone is entitled to every luxury. Those developers making the games being pirated have to get work and get money to put food on their tables too. This entitlement thinking is annoying. If no one bought the things you take for free, they would stop making more of them
You also make a bunch of assumptions about our lives and past. I know a lot of people who are poor or don't have a ton of money, but want to take pride in th fact they earned and bought what they have.
