Game Boy Modders! Could You Put a GBC inside a GB?

I recently got a Hyperboy and it is downright awesome, but the original Game Boy I purchased to put in it sucks. It's been so long since I've had an original GB, I don't remember how bad the screen is, but it seems like the contrast goes from way dark to way light in the slightest movement of the contrast switch.

At any rate, I got to thinking, how much would it cost (I couldn't do it myself) to put a Game Boy Color's guts inside an original Game Boy? This would allow me to play GBC games on the Hyperboy as well and also give me a much better screen with some colors. Backlit wouldn't be necessary (though I wouldn't be opposed to it, either), but the stereo headset would have to work since the Hyperboy takes the sound from the Game Boy and amplifies it through its better speakers.

Could a Game Gear be put inside a Game Boy's guts as well?

It should be doable. But I would highly recommend hacking a GBA SP instead of a GBC. That way you can play even more games:

I have no idea how to hack anything, unfortunately. I'd have to buy a modders' services.

Agreed? GB SP would seem to work the best, but the Hyperboy lacks L and R buttons.

There are plenty of GBA games that dont require the L or R. But I understand. Good luck on your quest.

Hmmm, you actually might be right. I'm not very experienced with GBA, but the ability to get a GBA flashcart would be awesome to play all the old games and maybe some new. Maybe you can even run Game Gear games off of that.

I've put a CGB into a MGB case before and I am an amateur. So, it shouldn't be hard for a competent modder.
