I could never get into Batman TAS.

*dodges glares and rocks*

I see no relation at all between the Arkham games and TAS, besides they both feature Batman.

Don't get me wrong, the stories were usually solid, but then you also have stuff like this.

...this.

If you're gonna criticize a show, Luke, it might help if you use examples from the right show.

Also, as for relation between the Arkham games and TAS? Same voice cast and the main writer wrote a bunch of episodes of the series.

In some defense, all the batman cartoons are kind of lumped together for me (70's ones aside). It wouldn't be difficult to find some ridiculous scenes from TAS either (that Shirley Temple knock off for one), but what would be the point?

I appreciated the fact that the TAS series gave Batman's universe an almost 1920's-30's gangster feel to the surroundings, as it fits the show well. As I said, some shows were very well written. There was a 2-parter introducing Clayface that was a great watch. But overall, never got into it.

The animation was part of it. Nearly everything has either 45 or 90 degree angles to it. It's a style that was very consistent and well done, but I don't care for it. I believe they went that route to make the cartoon feel less "cartoony".

But I have friends who think Phantasm is the best Batman movie ever made (by strides I may add), and they make movies, so what do I know?

The reasoning for that particular art design choice was basically to make the show a companion to the 1940s Fleischer Superman shorts. Really cool idea if you ask me.

Sad. :(

I really like Bruce Timm's art style. Never thought it really looked all THAT angular though...

It's a great episode too.
After re-watching it I'm 100 percent certain this is what OP is looking for.

Wonderful! Thanks! I remember renting it as a kid and being terrified. I guess I just assumed it was a movie.

Something similar does happen in Mask of the Phantasm too, so you should check that out like everyone else says if it turns out I'm wrong.

I don't know. I've recently watched the movie, because I bought it for a $1 at Goodwill. And it wasn't as good as I remember it being. It was a bit slow-moving.

I watched it as recently as a couple of years ago and still enjoyed it a ton.
