I prefer the sequel, now that I watched the original. Max Payne 3 did sift us through the infamous, socially-unjust and crime-ridden favelas of Rio de Janeiro, but the Elite Squad films are the real article. Almost as good as City of God.

Just the title alone makes me giggle a little.
Somehow I expected a movie about AC/DC.

Don't add to my problems by pretending my past views are still held in the present. I do not have any patience for that. Feel free to ask me what I think now.
Saw Moonrise Kingdom last week and saw The Dark Knight Rises today. Plenty has been said about them already in this thread, so I won't bother with a mini-review or synopsis (I never do with the currently out films anyway. I'll leave that to dsheinem to.) Suffice it to say that I thoroughly enjoyed them both and feel that it was money well spent.
A perfect example of the morbid intellectual depravity of the summer blockbuster; the days of Godzilla and Armageddon weren't half as bad. I actually think I became a bit dumber after watching this. NASA and space scientists were ridiculed for no reason, and the alien plot made no sense whatsoever, not to mention the ridiculous amount of lens flares. Fuck you very much.
The film did make me think of something else though.. oversized militaries are no longer feasible in today's world; short of a half-arsed alien invasion like the one in this garbage flick
