Headed up there for college. Can anyone recommend any restaurants/retro game shops/fun, affordable recreational activities? Any places I should avoid?

My guess is that not many people have much of a reason to go this far into the Upper Peninsula.

You'll get your fill of that just driving up there.Duane Dibbley wrote:Enjoying nature?lisalover1 wrote:My guess is that not many people have much of a reason to go this far into the Upper Peninsula.

Whenever I think of you Yoopers I always think of The Great Outdoors.

Gooseberry, PM me if you have any questions about the area or the school. I did both my bachelor's and master's at NMU. I also worked at NMU for the past few years while I was working on my master's. Depending on your background--i.e. if you're living on campus vs. off campus, your interests, where you're coming from, I might have a few suggestions of things to do, people to see, and good spots to eat.
Marquette will always be a home to me.
Like was mentioned, we don't have much in the selection of retro gaming, and yard sales don't typically have games.
That being said, I'm glad you decided to go to NMU. It has so many great opportunities for our students, and when I reflect on it, I knew it was the right school for me. It's always a great day to be a Wildcat. Just make sure you go to a few hockey games when you get there, whether you're a hockey fan or not. It'll be the last season where we play Big Ten teams.

I hear McDonald's is one of the best restaurants available in the region.
