I've got a feeling that this guy intended to kill himself at the theater. Probably chickened out of that at the last minute.
He'll get what's coming to him.

I didn't imply or say anything even remotely close to that.
King I will give you the benefit of the doubt on this as you seem a decent fellow, but your comments (and a few others) were very reminiscent of the kind of thing that was being posted across the web the last few days. Here's a good story on this topic, and it sums up my frustration a little nicer than I did: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/lisa-belk ... 92186.html

that's pretty much what i meant. i'd also like to know why he calmly surrendered to police then openly admitted to having rigged his apartment with explosives.brunoafh wrote:The only decent points the article has are, where the hell did he get this stuff (he probably just bought it with student loans), where did the learn to rig complex explosives, and why did he peacefully surrender and admit his apartment was rigged. Other than that to me it's just typical fear mongering false flag accusations. If the government wanted to abolish our rights to own firearms that bad I'm pretty sure they'd be able to come up with a better scheme than dressing some guy up as the joker and killing a dozen people watching a batman movie.aaron wrote:i think the only really important question that could very easily be answered is how in the hell did this guy obtain the weapons/gear/materials used for all of this in such an alleged short amount of time? that is a LOT of stuff and there are real costs associated with it. i'm not saying it's impossible that he bought it himself but i'd like to know exactly HOW he came up with the money for it.

The problem you guys are facing is you're trying to ascribe rational motivations to someone who isn't rational in the first place. "Why did he surrender peacefully?" Because it made sense to him with whatever twisted logic currently rules his brain.

i feel like that's a cop out. sometimes that can be the case but that doesn't mean that absolutely NO investigation should be conducted about his behavior and its root causes.MrPopo wrote:The problem you guys are facing is you're trying to ascribe rational motivations to someone who isn't rational in the first place. You definitely want to look in to things, but using that as evidence for a government conspiracy is spurious. The things you should be looking in to is figuring out the specifics of his mental state and figuring out how it can be treated and prevented.aaron wrote:i feel like that's a cop out. sometimes that can be the case but that doesn't mean that absolutely NO investigation should be conducted about his behavior and its root causes.MrPopo wrote:The problem you guys are facing is you're trying to ascribe rational motivations to someone who isn't rational in the first place. Re: Shooting in Colorado showing of The Dark Knight Rises
I saw part of his court appearance this morning on TV... the sicko is comepletely lost. He had this blank, almost lobotomized, look, and said nothing. It looked like somebody had whacked him over the head or something.
I've seen people questioning where he learned to make explosives... well, I'm sad to say the internet is a huge place, and that topic is extremely well covered. Its easier to learn how to make a pipe bomb than most seem to think. All the other items he was carrying/wearing are easy to get on the internet too...

You'd look that way too (minus the hair hopefully) if you had been interrogated for days.Forlorn Drifter wrote:I saw part of his court appearance this morning on TV... the sicko is comepletely lost. Could be drugs, could be sleep deprivation, could be a need for more attention, could be a ruse to make him seem insane. Could be all of the above too.
Re: Shooting in Colorado showing of The Dark Knight Rises
i don't agree with the FBI-staging-to-influence-UN-vote allegations, at all. the UN treaty is more about international gun trade, not individual gun ownership, so it's a silly, baseless theory anyway. i just really, really want to know why, i guess, and that article asked a lot of those questions in a way i hadn't seen.MrPopo wrote:You definitely want to look in to things, but using that as evidence for a government conspiracy is spurious. Well I had assumed you were talking about that part specifically since you mentioned conspiracies, that's the part of the article I found so ridiculous. I would assume that's the part dsheinem and MrPopo found so stupid and took a jab at as well.aaron wrote:i don't agree with the FBI-staging-to-influence-UN-vote allegations, at all.
