Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

The fact that this guy basically threw away a career in medicine to act out a "fantasy" as The Joker tells me this guy flew off the rails a long time ago.

If he makes statements in court that would sound like something Heath Ledger's version of The Joker would say, we're in for a real shit-storm during his trial.

Absolutely nothing.
I'd actually go as far as to say it may give it some momentum, as bad as that sounds. Seeing as the Joker is coming back to the comics in a big way this year, something like this could make people curious...

I don't like saying it, but I have that feeling.
I think the opposite. Rob Leifeld posted on Twitter that DC sent back his submitted covers:
@robertliefeld: Asked to re-do covers today due to Aurora. Tone down elements
I think DC is going to either can, delay, or town down Scott Snyder's big Joker story... which is sad because Snyder can write a damn good horror story.

This is so sad for all those people & their families (and even the killer's family to have that type of shame).
This is why guns need to be abolished. This shit keeps happening. The punishment is also too weak. This just sucks.

Long trial, many questions unanswered, life in prison. I would really like to see him beat to death or maybe exposed to like the ebola, lethal injection would be the easy way out.

Unfortunately that won't help. Even if somehow that could be done (which it can't), psychopaths would just use home-made pipe bombs, knives, bows and arrows, sledgehammers, golf clubs, or any other mundane tool that can be misused. I mean cars are 1-2 ton mobile slabs of death at the hands of idiots that don't have driving experience, have been drinking, or are too busy yakking and texting on their cell phone to pay attention to the world in front of them. :(
You're far more likely to die in a car accident than be shot, unless you live in Chicago, in which case the gun wasn't legally acquired in the first place.

That said, I work for Turner Broadcasting, which is owned by Time Warner and owns CNN. So...I don't plan on saying much more. But folks, if this guy is not considered mentally competent, he could get out of the death penalty or life imprisonment by way of insanity. He'll be confined to an institution for the rest of his days, but the likelihood that the justice people are hounding for will be meted out seems unlikely to me, as this guy is obviously not right in the head.

Anyone who goes on a killing spree is not mentally competent.

Not entirely true. They may have a view on the value of human life that is generally considered quite warped, but there have been many mass murderers mentally competent enough to withstand court proceedings. Consider the history of psychopathy in the United States, many of which who, once caught, were judged mentally sound to be put to trial. But a guy claiming he's a comic book character? That's a little different.
