I don't know about you, but if there was a naked girl who could tear me apart with her mind I'd be scared shitless.

Something about the idea is suprisingly arousing.

I'm sorry you didn't like it? Its not like I'm calling it the greatest thing ever or anything, it's not, but I did enjoy it. More than anything else though, I watched it because I've heard people talking about it for years and I had an easy opportunity to finally check it out.
I wrote up a bigger post about it earlier this morning but didn't want to ruin your fun or anything, so I deleted it... but then just had to post what I did earlier when I got back on I guess. lol

I just think it has like the worst contrast I've ever seen in a show. It literally feels like it's two completely incompatible shows blended up into one. On one side it's a weird supernatural thriller with over the top gore and loli's being mowed down or killing things, then it's... this boring harem with special girls. Basically how I saw it I guess. It was extremely hyped up back when I watched it, when it was newer... but I just kind of had a feeling I wouldn't be much of a fan and dang, it is just honestly at the bottom of the barrel with a very few select others I can't even think of now. I think a few like Dragonball GT and Victory Gundam are down there...

So I guess I'd pinpoint the contrast as one of my biggest issues. Everything felt too forced, fan pandering and junk.
CFFJR wrote:I'm not always good at thinking critically about some things though. Maybe I could explain myself better if I were. It also means though that I might sit through something that's pretty bad, and walk away from it thinking, it was okay. I'm kinda weird that way.
Nothing wrong with this though. Like on my MAL list or whatever I still tend to rate things subjectively and not objectively most of the time. MD Geist is one that everyone and their father will tell you is one of the worst ever, but I thought it was pretty damn fun haha. DANGEROUS!!!

But yeah I'm not a super tough critic with anime or something, Elfen Lied is just a rare one that really hit the bad notes.

All that said it's like I'd say Elfen Lied is just, bad moe. But there's good shoujo stuff out there I'm warming up too and in fact, not to ruin my defense here but I just finished up Precure Heartcatch the other day. I'm laughing as I type that but man it was just completely legit, same art/animation style as Casshern Sins and the budget was like at least One Piece level stuff (ie maximum). So I can tolerate cute if done well, but Elfen Lied wasn't that at all. But yeah this is why I watch Precure. Shun me if you must.

Mysterious Girlfriend X

all i know about it is that my girlfriend likes it a lot, there's recently been an anime made of it, and it's got this chick who makes her boyfriend drink her saliva off of her finger.

New episode of Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita (Humanity has Declined) just aired an hour ago. Currently obtaining that. Hope the awesomeness continues.

I really hope the US release comes sooner than later. It is already licensed by Sentai, but I would imagine that it will not receive a US physical release for at least a year from when it finishes airing.

I just finished Toradora. It was the high school drama to end all high school dramas, so I don't think I'll ever watch another one again.

@Xeogred

Nah, you're not ruining my fun. I'm glad you understand what I mean though as far as being objective. I could never write reviews of anything that would be worth a damn.

On that note, if there was one thing that did bother me about EL it was what you said, the semi-harem aspect. At least only a couple of them were in love with him, but still, it stood out. The horror thriller stuff is what I liked.

As for your Precure video, I will say that fight was pretty cool, but bruno's response was hilarious.

Anyway, moving on!

In the "typical shonen" category, I just finished watching Air Gear. Funny, I just bitched about gratuitous panty shots a couple of posts back, and here I am watching something by Oh! Great. Sometimes even I don't understand me.

It was fun, but like a lot of things it just made me want to read the manga.

Anime - 25 episodes and an OVA
Manga - 357 chapters

You think maybe some things were cut?

I mainly looked into it because of the similar concept to Jet Set Radio. It wasn't nearly as cool as Jet Set, but I really liked the music.

Which really just leads to the point, how awesome would it be if they made a JSR anime?

bruno's response works since I've been watching HnK for awhile now too.

Precure and HnK back to back... yeah I don't think a funnier combo than this is even possible.

Haha I caught a bit of Air Gear before, kind of instantly had a thing for the Ringo chick (think that's her name). It didn't seem that bad honestly, but I only saw a few episodes.

I don't know how much was cut, but it did do the awesome thing were the show just ends smack in the middle and resolves nothing. To be fair though, the alternate option of tacking on an original terrible ending (Soul Eater) is definitely worse.
