Upgrades don't have a huge effect gameplay-wise. Main character has very little personality and the whole thing barely raised a smile (and I LOVED Shadows of the Damned).

It would have been a much better game if you could play as Juliet's entire zombie-killing family. That would have added sniping, crazy-driving and God Hand like punching.
I'm not expecting much, but I'm curious. If it's bad, I want to at least play it so I can see why, and see where Suda effed up. If there's one good thing about playing bad games, it's in learning where games need to evolve and improve. And boy do they need to evolve and improve. The state of the industry today  It's getting hard for me to stay passionate about games. When I watch brilliant shows like Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones, then sit down and play whatever game is getting great reviews and see the huge gulf between what is considered "great" in video games and what is considered "great" in other entertainment mediums. It's depressing how immature the gaming industry truly is

Anyway, going on an off topic rant there. Sorry. I should have been playing this already, but Gamefly apparently didn't have this game available so they sent me the next game in my queue instead, which was The Darkness II. That game wasn't too great, hope Lollipop Chainsaw is at least a little more inspired than that game

he's discussed Shadows at great length elsewhere. He hated it.

Bah my memory for that kind of thing sucks. I found it to be better than expected and refreshingly unique, if also quite flawed and frustrating for the wrong reasons. "Hate" is a strong word...

I remember his biggest complaint being that he found it misogonystic.

This is one game out of my list that I am waiting to see how people react to it. While I have read that Famitsu has given this a 36 out of 40 which does give me hope. To me it looks like a more simple version of Dead Rising with No More Heroes mixed into it. If the game is something like No More Heroes with the button mashing and just hacking away Zombies then I think I won't be disappointed (of course, I loved NMH use of the Wii Controller too).

I might buy it when the game drops in price. $60 is just too much to pay for a game for a college student.

I'm not seeing the Dead Rising comparison, other than the fact that it has zombies in it. The combat doesn't look quite as slow and sloppy as the DR games. Those games put more emphasis on the weapons than the actual combat. I've seen No More Heroes in action and it doesn't really remind of that either, not combatwise anyway

The closest thing that popped into my head interestingly enough is the Buffy games (Buffy on Xbox and the Chaos Bleeds sequel), though the combat seems a bit more streamlined. Reminds me a bit of the recent Batman games too the way she can vault over enemies. I've seen some people compare it to the Oneechambara games too

Course, this is all based on what I've seen. I've given up on Gamefly sending me this game anytime this century. I guess it's pretty popular. If the price keeps dropping, I'll just buy the damn thing

Funny, random quote I saw in a youtube video for this game:

"Ha Ha! It IS fun. It makes me forget that most of my friends are dead!"

Well, funny if you like dark comedy

where is it $40? Gamestop and Bestbuy both still have it listed as $60. Amazon has it for $50, but seems to be a sale, not a price drop.
