Badass Yakuza being badass Yakuza. Some of the scenes in this movie are absolutely incredible. Loved it.

I've actually got this in my netflix queue. I seem to have a LOT of foreign films in my queue, including Red Cliff, The Chaser, and 13 Assassins. Every now and then I see a foreign film I want to watch on Netflix streaming though that's dubbed only. Grrrrr

Saw The Help last night. I was suprised how funny it turned out to be. I came in expecting a mature racial struggle movie. Instead, I got about half that and half social comedy. It has those moments of irony and awkwardness of real life you really want to laugh at, but can't.
And what was in the pie... fucking priceless.

Yeah, Oldboy is dubbed and that really pissed me off. My hearing's not the greatest, so even if I wasn't worried about artistic intent I would still prefer subtitles. Watch 13 Assassins first, because it's simply astounding, but Outrage gets glowing marks from me.

All these foreign films make me want Netflix... how often are the TV shows updated? DISH doesn't carry AMC anymore, so I was hoping that could potentially work as my replacement.

When I move out, Ima not have cable.

It depends on the network. I'd say it takes FX a good 4-5 months after a season has ended for it to end up on Netflix, and everyone else a good deal longer. Season 4 of Breaking Bad still isn't up, for example. It's truly fantastic for foreign film, though.

I watched Contagion.
It's an interesting film, I think maybe, though, it works better as a eye opener than an actual movie.

I could see people whom are already fully aware of how bacteria and virus' spread will be very annoyed by the movie's lack of movie ... but I would hope it could act as a sort of catalyst for people who claim that sort of transportation of disease isn't really true ... because there are a lot of people who act like that ... and it bugs the shit out of me.

(Ever go to a restaurant where you can see that they use a bin of standing soap water next to the garbage can to dip towels into to clean off tables. Or how about a butcher who puts on gloves grabs the meat ... then touches everything else, including the outside of the package when they hand it to you ... it's very annoying behavior that puts others at risk)

Anyway, as a movie, it's ok. It's kind of nice to have something to sort of illustrate how this type of situation can progress and behave that's somewhat realistic and in the framework of a movie rather than a documentary ... because ... people tend to avoid those for some reason.

It's amazing how many good foreign films you just stumble onto when looking around in Netflix streaming. It was never my intention to watch a ton of foreign films when I started with Netflix, and yet I've since watched Ip Man, Ip Man 2, Chocolate, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (original Swedish version), Troll Hunter, Shaolin (2011), The Host (2006), District B13, Clash (Vietnamese martial arts movie), and The Man from Nowhere. I re-watched Flash Point and I've still got a bunch of cool foreign films on there in my queue. That's not even counting some great ones that I skipped simply because they were only available dubbed like Let the Right One in, Sympathy for Mr Vengeance, Sympathy for Lady Vengeance, and various dubbed only martial arts movies.

Great for British shows too. They've got Luther, Sherlock, Spaced, The IT Crowd, Torchwood, etc, etc.

It's like Netflix is screaming at you, "watch foreign entertainment!"
