They just feel different to my eyes. Not quite sure how that works.gtmtnbiker wrote:How are you guys noticing that the framerate is 20 vs 30 or 60? Are you playing the game in an emulator with the fps displayed in some corner?
The few N64 games that I have played on the Wii (Mario Kart 64, Ocarina of Time) seem fine to me.
Were there any n64 games that ran at 60fps?

Don't add to my problems by pretending my past views are still held in the present. I do not have any patience for that. Feel free to ask me what I think now.

I primarily play games on my PC and anything below 60fps is pretty noticeable to me at this point. When I played games primarily on consoles I never really noticed anything till about 25 and below.

Starfox must feel like stabbing pencils in your eyes like it does to me.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:I primarily play games on my PC and anything below 60fps is pretty noticeable to me at this point. When I played games primarily on consoles I never really noticed anything till about 25 and below.

Starfox's framerate seemed awful to me even when I was mainly playing on consoles. It's like an interactive slideshow.Hobie-wan wrote:Starfox must feel like stabbing pencils in your eyes like it does to me.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:I primarily play games on my PC and anything below 60fps is pretty noticeable to me at this point. Try this comparison for example.gtmtnbiker wrote:How are you guys noticing that the framerate is 20 vs 30 or 60? Are you playing the game in an emulator with the fps displayed in some corner?
Below 25-30fps tends to appear choppy. Around that 30fps mark is smooth - what we're generally used to seeing TV at. 60fps, I think, is considered lifelike smoothness.

The two times I've attempted playing it I've turned it off due to the headache it gives me. 3D slideshows aren't very fun.Hobie-wan wrote:Starfox must feel like stabbing pencils in your eyes like it does to me.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:I primarily play games on my PC and anything below 60fps is pretty noticeable to me at this point. Thanks for the link. I see what you mean now. I guess it doesn't bother me that much. What does bother me are slowdowns caused by having too many sprites on the screen.isiolia wrote: Try this comparison for example.

The whole framerate thing is very subjective. It depends on the person. Some people notice chopiness and flicker and different framerates, on different colors etc. My TV has a 48 FPS mode so it can display Blu-Ray movies at their native 24 FPS instead of doing 3:2 pulldown to force 24 into 60. You can notice some flicker especially on white. Other people I know notice a lot of flicker and can't stand watching it. My understanding is somewhere in the 30s is when most people can no longer notice a difference.

If you have a plasma (which would be my assumption with a 48fps mode), some people are more sensitive to the flicker and phosphor lag inherent to the technology too.Jamisonia wrote:The whole framerate thing is very subjective. I am not sure how you guys notice frame rates.
I have to categories for this. Choppy or NOT choppy.
10-25-45-60-80
I can't tell.... well 10 will obviously be choppy.
Hahaha that spinning rectangle in the link, I can't tell the difference between 30 and 60 fps , except that the 60 fps seems to run faster, as in speedier not smoother
