Re: Random Thoughts Thread
I don't mind chatting on the phone but I don't seek it out. For some reason, I have difficulty talking with one cousin of mine. We both have the tendency to speak at the same time which is annoying. I don't have this issue with any other person.

Has anyone here noticed the new Blu-ray releases of Raimi's Spider-Man films?

What is up with this cover art? Why is it so cheap and amateurish looking? It looks like some kind of a placeholder art, but it's the real thing alright... Did they let an intern do this or something?
Also, while I'm complaining about packaging... slipcovers. I don't like them. 99 percent of the time it's just the same artwork that's on the actual dvd/blu-ray case anyway, so what's the point? I also don't care for those 'digibook' packaging. Just give me a plastic case, please!

Dear God, look at the border of Spidey in the second! I've seen fifth graders better at Photoshop!AppleQueso wrote:Has anyone here noticed the new Blu-ray releases of Raimi's Spider-Man films?

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
For the most part I just don't seem to enjoy 90's action movies. Independence Day, The Rock, Air Force One... they all disappoint. Cheesy villains and conspicuously dated CGI special effects FTL.

Well that's because those are mostly terrible movies.BoringSupreez wrote:For the most part I just don't seem to enjoy 90's action movies. Independence Day, The Rock, Air Force One... they all disappoint. Cheesy villains and conspicuously dated CGI special effects FTL.
Try these:
-Terminator 2
-Die Hard 3
-Patriot Games
-Lethal Weapon 3
-Hudson Hawk
-Sneakers
-Backdraft
-Leon
-Heat
-Fifth Element
-Mission: Impossible
-Rush Hour
-The Matrix

Are those actually real?AppleQueso wrote:Has anyone here noticed the new Blu-ray releases of Raimi's Spider-Man films?
Reminds me a bit of the look of the Star Wars VHS re-re-release, but those are terrible.

PATRIOT GAMES and LEON/THE PROFESSIONAL are classics worth watching dozens of times.
I'd classify HUDSON HAWK as a comedy, or a hilariously bad action movie. I love it, but I also have to say it is a very, very bad movie. But any movie list that mentions Danny Aiello twice is fine with me.
Re: Random Thoughts Thread
Yeah I would classify a couple of the ones I listed as terrible movies, but still very enjoyable, as opposed to the ones that Boring listed which are just terrible, IMO.Luke wrote: PATRIOT GAMES and LEON/THE PROFESSIONAL are classics worth watching dozens of times.

EDIT: Do you also feel that the f'ed up a good thing with A CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER? Loved PATRIOT GAMES but C&PD left me wanting.

Yup, 100 percent. I saw them in person at work. They kinda added this metallic effect to the blue background, but it doesn't really help any.Luke wrote:Are those actually real?AppleQueso wrote:Has anyone here noticed the new Blu-ray releases of Raimi's Spider-Man films?

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
"IT DOES MATTER!" is one of my favorite line readings of all time. PATRIOT GAMES is so, so good and yeah, I got an empty feeling after watching C&PD. I blame the pacing, and although something is always happening, when the credits roll it feels like nothing happened.Stark wrote: Yeah I would classify a couple of the ones I listed as terrible movies, but still very enjoyable, as opposed to the ones that Boring listed which are just terrible, IMO.

If it was a stand alone movie, I wouldn't change my mind either. I wouldn't go as far as saying CP&D makes action boring, but it is pretty close.
And hopefully you already know I love funny terrible movies that aren't 100% stupid and super sloppy. I still think GALAXY QUEST is a perfect Saturday/stay in bed/cure a hangover movie. Every character, although shallow, is likeable, and good GOD I don't think Weaver has ever looked better on film.
Random Thought: Do people still sign yearbooks?

Please tell me they're in a 3-pack with a better cover.AppleQueso wrote: Yup, 100 percent. I saw them in person at work. They kinda added this metallic effect to the blue background, but it doesn't really help any.
