I remember that I sort of liked it and that I was totally aware of how "bad" it was right there. I think you need to watch it in a particular mindset to enjoy it if you are not a kid, but it usually puts a grin in my face. I can still watch it.dsheinem wrote:Yes! Thank you! I don't get the love for that show by anyone who wasn't like 7 or younger at the time.indecks wrote:I was born in 1977. I'm gonna be 35 this August, and I know people that were born not long after me, like 81, 82, etc that look back on the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers 'fondly.'.... I always thought to myself "wow, that looks like crap."
I know guys that are about 30 and remember the show like I remember Transformers and Robotech. It just makes no sense to me. It was awful. I remember seeing all of the knockoffs like BeetleBorgs and VR Rangers or whatever. It was just so terrible.
Maybe it is because I liked Captain Power and the soldiers of the future, which was several years earlier (and I think actually has some quality).
Also the Japanese originals that showed before the American version were much better (as is Gatchaman), and those I tried to watch the episodes and keep up with the continuity (but I was also younger).
For the American version I just saw it once in a while, otherwise there are better uses for your time... And the knock-offs were quite terrible (some better than others, but generally quite terrible).
I find it strikingly beautiful that you mostly watch a random single episode of PR and absorb like 90% of not just that whole series, but all other Power Ranger series.
I find it strikingly odd that something like that not only was not cancelled at the first series, but is still going.
