Ridiculous Stuff You'd Watch As a Kid

Post by BurningDoom »

Thinking back today, I realized there was a lot of complete garbage I watched as a kid. What was some of the stuff that you can't believe you used to watch?

-Captain Planet - He's a hero! He'll bring pollution right down to zero!

-Full House - It was popular, I was an impressionable child. I consider myself a victim.

-Mighty Morphin Power Rangers - I'm still curious how the toy Dinozords came together to form the Megazord, though.

-Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1987) - Seriously, nostalgia aside: Go back and watch an episode, I recently did. It's sooooo cheesy.

Power Rangers.

Cow and Chicken. Oh Gawwwwd.

Any Pokemon past Hoenn. What a waste.

A couple others, but I tended to keep my quality up.

Hmm.. Biker mice from Mars? I guess many action cartoon/pseudoanime shows fit the bill, stuff like Yu Gi Oh, Beyblade, DBZ etc.

What's wrong with Cow and Chicken? I love how surreal/trippy/fucked up that show was at times :) Kinda like Ren and Stimpy.

I love the early TMNT, despite the fact that I don't have any particular childhood nostalgia towards it (apart from reading the comics with Usagi Yojimbo). But I guess that things like bad voice acting and cheesy puns don't make me cringe like that as I'm not a native English speaker. I can't watch some of the dubbed cartoons I watched as a kid because of that same reason.
My WTB thread (Sega CD/Saturn games)
Also looking to buy: Ys III (TG-16 CD), Shadowrun (Genesis) Hori N64 mini pad and Slayer (3DO) in long box/just the long box

You and me at the flag pole.

I own the complete Full House Box Set and every season of TMNT that has been released.

Still find both re-watchable and awesome. They were meant to be awful, and they did an incredible job at it. They all borrow from some excellent shows from the past, and they're stupid fun.

Just thinking about Uncle Phil as Shredder makes me chuckle, and don't get me started about Irma.

I will say watching He-Man makes me cringe a little ;)

The first season of TMNT is so amazing. Just imagine how awesome it would've been if the following seasons would've followed the same pattern/style. They could've hooked a lot more kids to watching it by doing so ("stay tuned for the next episode" cliffhangers and all that)

Season 2 is my personal favorite. When the voice actors started changing (season 4 I think) Donatello sounded really odd, they jumped the shark a bit. But over all, I can watch any season any given day.

The funny thing is I even hated Captain Planet as a kid. Thought the "save the world" (literally) thing was so silly as a kid, haha... that said I kept watching it. I think because something else better came on afterwards.

Zelda is a good one that's so bad it's hilarious if you're in the mood.

Batman TAS has aged really well. Not sure if I can say that about some stuff like Spiderman, X-Men, etc though, but I still don't have a huge problem going back to anything from my childhood. I'd like to rewatch all of Reboot someday and still need to rewatch Sonic SatAM.

Transformers....so bad and so cheaply animated

Anime (I won't elaborate so I doesn't derail the thread)

Power Rangers (this is by far worse than Transformers too imo)
