What Laptop do you own or want?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Out of curiosity, how much would you pay for the model that I bought from a different manufacturer?

I paid $1100

I had previously looked at laptops at Microcenter and Sony/Asus were the only ones I liked. I wanted something that was light, 1080p screen, backlit keys and wouldn't heat up my lap much.

Personally, I want the Pro version of this recently announced bad boy:

It's the new Microsoft tablet they've recently announced, with the Pro version having a desktop mode. It's not much of a Gaming PC, but some have reported from interviews that it can definitely play Civ IV/V which is all I care about anyways, well that and Team Fortress 2. Just plug in a mouse and you have a portable PC that can also function as a tablet. This will be the IPad killer, if they get everything else right about it that they have yet to announce.

I have this, in silver. And I love the rounded cover and texture and stuff. I don't really want anything else, but if this bites the dust before I build my planned desktop, I'll just stick with the VAIO series, since it's been good to me twice now.

My current laptop (and main computer I use) is this one:

I've had this one since I got it as a Christmas present in 2009. So far it's been good to me. I don't do a whole lot of intensive stuff on there, just the usual email, documents, viewing videos, playing CDs on it, music editing, a smidge of video editing, and what not. Keyboard is awesome and I love that it's not overtly heavy (it's maybe 6 pounds). BIG hard drive (for me at least), plenty of ports to hook shit up to, and a dedicated memory card reader, since I came from a laptop that required an external card reader. The only things I'm not all that crazy about is the touchpad isn't as good as the one on my older laptop, the integrated graphics card (which sucks up memory when I play a game on it), and I dunno....maybe a bigger screen (this one is 15.6 inches, I would have preferred maybe a 16.4 or 17.3 inch screen). Other than that though I'm happy with it.

My old laptop (and current backup):

I've had this one since November of 2003. Still works, although very slowly, it runs like molasses compared to my current lappy. It's a beast though. Has the most glorious 4:3 ratio screen (at 15 inches), and plays CDs/DVDs. Specs at the time were pretty decent, now are kinda laughable, like 40 gb hard drive, 256 MB RAM (which I upgraded to 640 total, may upgrade to it's limit of 1gb), 32 MB ATI graphics card, etc. Unfortunately, I used it so much that the hinges are cracked (one is almost broken all the way, barely hanging on by a few screws) and it's heavy. Over 8 pounds. I used to drag this thing with me to college and yeah....heavy alright. Also, after years of use, the left button on the touchpad is loose and functions kinda erratically, and the "B" button is being held by super glue.

I don't really have any desire for another laptop for a while and in fact my next computer may actually be a desktop, which is something I haven't owned in almost a decade. Yeah, I love laptops.
