Lollipop Chainsaw (new Suda game!)

whooo~!!! beat the game on monday.

went back and got the good ending today.

game is so good! sooooo gooood!! most fun I've had since Akai Katana!!

Im putting it aside for now to play other games, but I'll definitely be back again for Score / Achievement runs!

So the reviews aren't that great, which could mean a couple of things

1. It's actually great! Since Shadows of the Damned, which wasn't great, got fantastic scores from those very same reviewers. So it's like the inverse of that or something

2. It's just that bias against old school beat'em ups kicking in. We've seen it before with reviewers.

3. They're just seeing what I already saw with Shadows of the Damned, that Suda really isn't all that great.

That would mean that wikipedia (as well as quite a few reviews for both games) really needs to get its facts straight then, because it seems he was very much involved with both games

Reactions to this game are kind of all over the place and unlike most of the gaming populace I've never been a huge Suda 51 fan. I like his games but I rarely love them. I'll wait until I hear more or until it's cheaper, it definitely seems like a game that will end up in the bargain bin.

Did you even play either Killer 7 or No More Heroes, the two games he's actually praised for?

He came up with the basic ideas and was a producer for both games. He didn't direct either of them and it really shows in Shadows of the Damned if you're familiar with his writing style. Based on the footage I've seen of Lollipop Chainsaw, it seems "more Suda" dialogue wise than SotD, but I can't say for sure really till I play it.

My basic point is, neither of these games are "true" Suda games, if that makes any sense. He wasn't at the helm of either of them.

Did you even play either Killer 7 or No More Heroes, the two games he's actually praised for?

If he hates God Hand and immature jokes, I'm gonna have to assume he'll hate No More Heroes. But who knows. Killer 7 is just too insane to possibly know whether or not someone is going to like it. I'm still not sure I like it myself. Flower Sun and Rain is another good Suda directed one though.

Killer 7 is just such an absolutely unique experience that I think it's something everyone should play, at least once. Even if they don't finish it or end up hating it, it's still something worth trying out.

I actually didn't have much of a problem with God Hand's humor or style. It was the way the game was designed that I didn't like. For me, everything about God Hand from the controls to the random nature of its design just didn't appeal to me.

God Hand is one of those games that sounded great on paper, but didn't do much for me when I actually got around to playing it.

God Hand's humor was more goofy and wacky than anything, but Shadows of the Damned was just downright offensive, mysogynistic. and juvenile
