At least you got them to admit that it was a line issue. It shouldn't take them too long to straighten out. Definitely bitch until they give you a credit though.
BTW, all telecoms suck when it comes to line issues, not just cable companies. ATT/Uverse in my area is no better than cable, and costs 4x as much to have installed. There's a reason telecommunication companies are routinely some of the worst rated companies for customer service (actually, several reasons lol). I'm glad I no longer work for cable companies and moved in to web hosting for a company that actually cares about its customer accounts staying around.
