I played this at E3 and it is a blast - although I was disappointed to learn that there's no campaign mode. It's also going to use the free-to-play model, not be on Steam (they are using it to launch their own client), and not use much in the way of "mech" controls. I also learned that it started life as a console-market developed game.Gunstar Green wrote:As a huge fan of mech games whose been starved by the nearly dead genre I've been waiting on pins and needles for this game to come out. Well that's kind of disappointing. Hope it's still good, I've never been into mech games that much but Hawken has held my interest.dsheinem wrote:although I was disappointed to learn that there's no campaign mode. Re: Hawken
Why would you want to launch your own Steam competitor at this stage of the game? I can understand EA doing it, since they're a large publisher with many studios, and Stardock did it because they sold a ton of non-game software (and Gamestop bought it so they could get a foothold into the digital realm). Why would a small studio try to create their own client?dsheinem wrote:I played this at E3 and it is a blast - although I was disappointed to learn that there's no campaign mode. Re: Hawken
I am a bit disappointed that this is just an FPS with heavy slow moving bodies (well....to PC gamers that's what COD feels like anyway
).
I want a full mech simulator. What do we have 50+ buttons on our keyboards for?

Re: Hawken
Most free-to-play games develop their own clients for patches and in-game transactions (which Steam regulates)
