CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE was also terrific in 3D. Probably that and Prometheus were the only ones I thought that 3D wasn't just a gimmick.
Giamatti and Cruise had great performances (although Cruise singing sounded like Cruise singing) the story unfortunately can't carry a note (sorry). I enjoyed the Giamatti vs. Baldwin angle (I can't believe how forgettable Zeta was) but the "make cute" so early in the film was pretty bad. Well, the entire love story is bad, although I did laugh at the "boy band" stuff.
I'd also say that Giamatti and Cruise make decisions like people in their situation would make, where the rest of the cast seem like pretty people being told what to do without question.
Rock of Ages delivers for women who grew up listening to glam rock and/or milfs, and I got a ton of laughs from it that were "bad/awesome" but it ends up being a but shallow with some really bad acting.
My only HUGE complaint: again PG-13 used to = boobs. Why have a strip club that features strippers that don't strip? In writing, if someone pulls out a gun, someone better shoot it. If you're showing me a strip club, I would like to see some stripping.
Little complaints would be that the casting was either a singer who couldn't act, or actors who can't sing (without tons of production work). That and not playing a few companies licensing fees to use their company name.
Not bad, not my cup of tea.
