They should release a Betamax edition of the movie. Let's see people mass-pirate THAT.

"Stuff comes to life" is probably one of the oldest plots in animation. Disney had a lot of shorts like this as did the Warner Brothers, who made several about books coming to life and I bet tha MGM had several shorts like this, specially from the Ub Iwerks era. They went out of flavour in the 40s as cartoons grew more aggresive and less cute.Michi wrote:I know that this is just part of the larger joke, but this got me thinking, and, not to bring up a bad subject, but in all seriousness there are several works that pre-date Toy Story that involve toys coming to life.

OK, I finally had a chance to watch the trailer. I literally got goosebumps. I am really excited to see this now.
I also can't remember the last time I've said this (probably sometime in the 16-bit era?) but, damn, I hope Disney makes this a video game!

Exactly. It's a plot idea that's been used forever. You could probably compile a big-a*# list involving works that have copied that very same plot idea, but I thought a couple examples would get my point across just fine.General_Norris wrote:"Stuff comes to life" is probably one of the oldest plots in animation. This looks awesome!
Though, I wish it would have been something other tha a Donkey Kong rip off. Now I feel like there won't be a Mario or DK cameo.
Damnit, Ibetter see some mention of Harvest Moon!

I realized that the arcade part of it was like Donkey Kong, but I never realized it was like Donkey Kong in that he became a hero himself.Forlorn Drifter wrote: Though, I wish it would have been something other tha a Donkey Kong rip off. Now I feel like there won't be a Mario or DK cameo.

Well Bowser's in it, so it's not like Nintendo isn't involved at all. Maybe there will be other Nintendo cameos.

It actually sounded a little more like Nolan North, but I'm not sure.
